An MMO that appeals to the elderly. I remember that game, it was Everquest.

In fact, Everquest had the largest age span of any game I've played -> 12 to 67 in my guild.

I think every game has that. Hell, in AO we had one Doctor who was quick on the sarcasm, funny as hell and played more than the rest of us. She was in her 70's.

There are 3 types of people in the world.
1.) Those who make things happen
2.) Those who watch things happen
3.) And those who wonder "What the %#*& just happened?!"

So they should just remake Everquest and shoot themselves in the foot for not making the game appealing to everyone and only a specific set of people?

While I'm seeing more of a trend that aims towards kids and solo gameplay in games lately, there were times in many games where I, at only 36, thought I was the old man of the group (as I said, there's been a palpable trend towards kids and guilds can show that). But, surprisingly, there have always been older people than me in every game and every guild I've been in. Some as old as late 60's (even had a famous fantasy author in guild in EQ2 **but I'll keep them secret =P**). Still though, I'm of the old school, I grew up and enjoy the grind, I want hard, not just 'hardcore' games, I've bounced from game to game a lot in the last year and there's not a one that I didn't hit max level within 3 days, and I did that 99.9% solo. That's the problem that we need to address these days. If you can spend 3 days burning through 5 years of development, then your developers failed and no amount of hype or false claims of innovation will save your sinking ship. But then, we all realize that it's all about getting as many people in the cash shop within the first month as possible, as the investors won't let devs actually plan for any real longetivity since it would cost more money.

They are already shooting themselves in the foot by "making the game appealing to everyone" as you put it. You can plainly see how much universal love there is around here.

How many times do you need to be fed that same BS line before you realize it's the carrot on the stick they use to make you feel good but never pays out.

The fact of the matter is the MMO genre is flooded with products. So spending millions of dollars on a game is a gamble no matter how good they think it is.

I want this game to be a success but more than that I want this game to be a game worth playing for a good amount of time. I don't just want another game I log into because there isn't anything else worth logging into.
