Legacy characters cannot transfer to fresh start servers. I mean they say that right in the answer to the question about paid character transfers after launch.
I think you should totally start over again on Leviathan though anyways >.>

Not according to yesterday's live letter. it looks like after legacy outrage they have reversed course on that.
Any graphical, audio, or gameplay restrictions not seen in other mmos but found in FFXIV can be blamed on one thing. PS3
There is no "legacy outrage" at not being able to join fresh servers. I don't know what you are talking about.
This has not changed. They are putting in a world transfer service, but the restrictions between Legacy/Fresh Start remains. New characters can move to legacy servers, but legacy characters cannot move to fresh start servers.
The live letter says nothing about reversing this plan.

The restrictions are not the same. You obviously havent read. They will reduce the gill you have when you transfer. The only thing not concrete according to the dev is the exact timing of when transfers start after 3 weeks. Stop spreading the wrong info.

Keep in mind legacy members have to pay a sub 2 weeks earlier than everyone else. Personally it's not a bad thing to allow legacy members to transfer. With the dungeons being level capped, and sooner access to low level HQ items, it could work out in the long run, and not all legacy members have all lvl 50s in everything, the population of those players are at best very small.

"Although the World Transfer Service will begin shortly after release. Details regarding this service, including when Version 1.0 characters will be allowed to transfer from Legacy Worlds have yet to be finalized."
Also there is a post from Foxclonn that says Legacy are not allowed to transfer to Fresh Start, and that this transfer would be the same as the one we just had. New players will be able to transfer anywhere however.
Is the announcement on the World Transfer service being available 2-3 weeks after launch (says nothing about Legacy characters going to Fresh Start), there is nothing outside of the beta forums about anything else.

Sorry dude, you're the one spreading the wrong info. Official statement is this:
Although the World Transfer Service will begin shortly after release. Details regarding this service, including when Version 1.0 characters will be allowed to transfer from Legacy Worlds have yet to be finalized.
Therefore, I'm going to close this thread before assumptions, theory crafting, and unnecessary arguments run rampant.
We ask that you please be patient and wait for further details on how this service will work.

If you use your 1.0 character, won't you be missing a ton of new content developed for ARR which has been designed to make the game go from crap to good? Seems to completely defeat the purpose of ARR.

All the new content for ARR including the storyline and class quests are available to all characters, legacy or otherwise.

They did not explicitly say that. Thats just how people interpreted it. If they were planning to allow xfer 2 weeks later then why would they restrict them to legacy servers to start?
They have been pretty upfront and direct when it comes to legacy players transferring to starter servers. They have stated in the past that they do not want to allow legacy players to go to non legacy servers for several reasons destroying the economy being one of the biggies.
The earliest we will see Legacy transfers to non-legacy servers will likely be six months after launch. This has not been reaffirmed since Yoshi-P mentioned such a few months ago.
The reduction of gil is something that people have known about for over a year (unless speaking strictly of the limits imposed that are associating with transferring characters as it is the norm to believe that such restrictions will be in place with games that responsibly allow such); they released that info around the same time as the legacy award system was announce and how people would have about a year to partake in it before it closes.
What is occurring is that 90% of the gil characters have will be taken away, but the prices of NPCs will also be reduced by 90% to compensate. Therefore the prices of materials and the like will also have to drop by about 90% if they want to sell, as players would just be able to buy from the incredibly reduced prices from the vendors.
I'm interested in how the economies of both types of draw out. Items and the like will likely be sold at low prices after a week or so on Legacy servers as there are so many crafters and people able to get items needed. The new servers will most likely remained at inflated prices for months as power crafters and crafting shells / companies just dominate everything without competition.
It's also interesting because items are now soul bound once you gain some experience with them equipped. Though really this is just replacing how hard it was to give 3+ meld armor in game. Having three materia in a slot through forbidden techniques was somewhat rare, and five was almost unheard of. There was like a 99% chance of failure, it seemed like, starting from level 3 forbidden techniques. It often took hundreds of millions of gil just to get one piece of armor that was of high quality (hundreds of items breaking, materia lost, materials lost, etc.). Suffice it to say only the rich were able to have but one piece of this armor, much less having five meld armor in each equipment slot (which is now obsolete anyway with the new items in game).
Now there's a very low chance of failure as items have specific slots and even then the items and such don't break if you try a forbidden process beyond that. You can also get your artifact armor by doing a series of difficult (?) solo quests as opposed to how strenuous and tiresome and expensive it was in the past.
Despite the difficulty of 1.0 I'd say it helped the community out. People were helping each other achieve things left and right, and many wanted to keep the auction house fair for those who had little money. Hopefully we'll see such camaraderie in the fresh servers as well, despite them not being a part of that that and potentially coming from other gaming communities.
Due to frequent travel in my youth, English isn't something I consider my primary language (and thus I obtained quirky ways of writing). German and French were always easier for me despite my family being U.S. citizens for over a century. Spanish I learned as a requirement in school, Japanese and Korean I acquired for my youthful desire of anime and gaming (and also work now). I only debate in English to help me work with it (and limit things). In addition, I'm not smart enough to remain fluent in everything and typically need exposure to get in the groove of things again if I haven't heard it in a while. If you understand Mandarin, I know a little, but it has actually been a challenge and could use some help.
Also, I thoroughly enjoy debates and have accounts on over a dozen sites for this. If you wish to engage in such, please put effort in a post and provide sources -- I will then do the same with what I already wrote (if I didn't) as well as with my responses to your own. Expanding my information on a subject makes my stance either change or strengthen the next time I speak of it or write a thesis. Allow me to thank you sincerely for your time.
