stop hating on the Destruction

I really dont see the point or the reason why people are crying about this...

 

I keep hearing about destruction of areas will be a bad thing because people will make it there soul reason and actions in guilds to keep the world ....ugly.....

 

well this is just childish to think that A title so powerful like EQN would only hold the attention span in there game to be that reason for people to play it.

 

people will destroy stuff yes. because its new in these types of games "mmos" but after getting that out of there system "testing new systems

 

they will move on to enjoy the rest of the content thats in this game

 

dont worry so much about this peoples

 

because if the game sucks theirs no reason to play in a broken beat up world because you will  stop playing it anyways

 

but we all know its not gonna suck now dont me

    The destruction isnt permanent, it will respawn on its own after a certain amount of time.  And some of it must be triggered by player or npcs to be fixed back.

    Seriously?

    The game will be good and the destructibility will add to the world in ways we haven;t even fully thought of yet. Sure it will be fun to do. Clearly it's built into the gameplay so why would you think it would somehow break the game. The devs can modify things on the fly and maybe players will be able to kill other players that are doing bad things....as a bonus.

    The complaints are mainly from a very vocal minority whom absolutely hates change, and won't be happy until SOE gives them EQ1 with updated graphics. Another fairly recent example of this type of behavior is all the fuss over D3.

    Funny thing is, if SOE / Blizzard made the updated EQ1 / D2  that people claim to want, I can guarantee that those same people would turn right around and bash SOE / Blizzard for not trying anything new, or lacking innovation.

    In other words no matter what is done, people will find a reason to complain, especially if the product is produced by a 'big, EEEVIIILLL corporation. That goes double for the forums on this site, BTW.

    The majority of people (from what I've observed) however are looking forward to EQN, and are anxious to see if the ideas integrated into the game will play out favorably. Simply ignore the complainers, trolls, and self-titled 'hardcore' ex EQ vets. You'll be that much better off for it.

     

    It's a sad day indeed when a family is too afraid of reprisals to publicly thank somebody for saving their lives.

    Purely from the demo shown during the EQN reveal, I see it more as an annoyance than a fun feature. I expect to be proven wrong, but from what I saw on the demo it doesn't do a thing for me. Nothing.

    i love the destruction feature. I just hope that instead of a hole on the ground suddenly respawning completely covered they make it slowly rebuild over time so it feels more natural. ALso houses and trees that are destroyed should have NPCs planting new seeds that grow over time into the tree again, and workers actually building the destroyed houses over time again. THAT will make the game a lot better. Instantly popping on your screen after X time makes it look fake and completely poor quality product.

    they could make it hard to break things in one shot... like if they really wanted to level a mountain.. it would be really hard and time consuming..

    and whos hating? the nerd ragers seem to attack everything,

    Eqn is a big deal and some people hate on everything. None of us will know how this will pan out until we can roll a toon in this new changable, destructable world. I just hope ill be able to have a permanent underground dungeon beneath my keep when the game goes live.

    I'm so ready for it. every game I have ever played I always want the destruction to happen when I play with my Barbarian or Warrior class's in any game I desire floors cracking walls Breaking objects flying around!

    My guess is destruction of open world areas will be much more restricted and/or will self repair very quickly while doing more significant damage will only occur in select locations or instances.

    If this turns out to not be the case then players have good cause to be concerned because there are indeed those who will make it their life mission to make the world miserable for everyone else, and if you don't think so then you've never played on a server with the "Goons" who will elevate this to a new art form of griefing..

    what people are really hating on one of the best features of the game? I dont get it..

    its like people complaining you can dig holes in minecraft..

    Of all the gripes against EQN, destructability isn't really one of em.  There might be some bashing because it's not gonna be all this or that as the rabid fans are making it out to be but the other features are what people are more focused on or concerned about like 8 skills limitation, lack of trinity, multiclassing, combat, rallying calls, lack of real raids and such.

    I'm a hater but more a skeptic but I see the potential worth of destructability... IF done correctly.  What the vid showed and turned me off on the destructability was how it felt like playing those lego games as when the lion king went whirlwind he just demolished walls... that is just ridiculous.  PFO I see destructability done right where players can build settlements that players can destroy but it will be a long process and not a "whirlwind through and see blocks flying."

    Having numerous instances and a world the regenerates defeats the point of destructability imo, were "lasting" changes are not a feature.

    And the question remains though who really wanted this sort of feature anyways?  How many did not even consider nor cared about destructability until the unveiling and because SOE tooted their horn as a grail it's all of a sudden one of the "holy grails" of MMOs?  All major sandbox games never had destructability of a lego blockus design and certainly isn't a core feature in sandbox MMOs.  Sure it's the core design in Minecraft but I play MMOs (or used to at least) and not Minecraft.  Destructability reeks of a hype done masterfully by SOE.

    If I play EQN then destructability certainly will have no affect on my decision.

    So, you have taken an entirely subjective point of view and are now demanding that everyone who doesn't share it not be allowed to voice their opinions? Aside from that, you have made the blanked claim that expressing concerns or doubt is "Hate"

    I'll tell you what. I am interested in this mechanics. It looks interesting, but at the same time, I'm not so taken in by a tech demo as to not see issues with this. Others have seen them too. They are legitimate questions that have yet to be addresses.

    Also, we have been down this path so many times with new and revolutionary mechanics or features that promise to change how we experience our games that ultimately deliver a "meh" experience or introduce a whole new set of unforeseen issues, esp around what players will do to find exploits and loopholes.

    If you want to put your faith in SoE who has a track record, that is your choice, but for me and those like me, There are too many unanswered questions.

    I'm pretty sure they commented on those videos just showing what's possible with destruction, not that everything you graze will explode normally.  Or at least, not initially.

    Nobody is crying about it.  It's just that complete destructibility, while sounding novel and interesting, is probably going to have a lot of unintended consequences.  It'll be interesting to see what happens.  Personally, I think the idea of smashing through the world to get to deeper levels is silly...  and it means that for every square foot of the world they need to design two layers under that.. which means the surface of the world is probably much smaller than EQ1 was and more easily traversed, which I don't like.

    It doesn't necessarily mean the world will be smaller (It might).  They keep talking about how a lot of the world will be procedurally generated so they only have to design rules for that environment to randomly make itself.
