Worst community award 2005!

A vote between the nominations that i feel deserve this wonderful prize the most :)

EQ2:

While the forums are nice and all it really comes into game here. No social content means empty towns and everyone ignoring eachother! Many people don't talk or group with people that are not in their guild and it's very tough for newcomers to get settled in! As the community is soo moody and don't talk this means that newcomers miss out on all the content from levels 1 - 50 and find themselves solo level grinding! When they are higher level enough find that they can get a group as the games going to become top heavy!

Lineage 2:

Far as i know it full of hackers, farmers and bots, thats all i need to put it here!

PS:

SOE have destroid this community from their business ways. Used to love it but it quicker turned into a forum of flames and a global chat of spam!

SWG:

Yet again have SOE ruined a mmorpg many people came to play because it wasn't another EQ! The servers are very empty and the forums are full of hate for SOE! I don't blame the community but SOE has turned it from what i used to reccomend as the best community out there in one of the worst.

WOW:

While i love the numbers and i don't have a problem i find alot of people don't know how to play their class! It's the best balanced mmorpg out there where any class can beat any class. I find myself playing as a Shadow Priest seeing as they don't really have a weak class but Warlocks.
Feel that it's constantly filled with flamers and horrible talks on general chat.

MU Online:

Hackers etc.

Dark and Light:

The forums are just terrible. The way the company has handled the Preorders and SOG in the old first come first served fashion means that anyone could just the account! Also Multiple accounts.
I doubt many of them actually know what testing is and i doubt they'll stick very long!

They should have handled it like many companies where they do it in waves and chose the best app forms :) Not this open to everyone option which has been exploited and ruined by the community.

So which one will you vote for?

    Thats my list

how can you make a poll with only certain games? some of the games you don't even know what the community is like. you say "as far as i know".

just stop with the one sided polls.

    worst:

    1:Guild Wars (HORRIBLE! HORRIBLE!)
2:Tibia (its free, what do you expect?)
    3:Runecra...er, Runescape (same as above)

    Best:
1:Lineage 2 (great community, those that actually play anyway. but the real players are very nice, somebody just gave me 140k when he found out i was pretty new to the game)
2:City of Heroes/City of Villains. pretty good community, not something to write home about.
3:Everquest 2 I heard a lot of older people play this. unfortunatly, i hardly even get to see anybody.
    not bad tough.

Ive got a real bad feeling this thread is going to get flamed rather fast....as some of those descriptions are purely the opinions of the user and not based on facts.

I'm going to monitor this thread closely. If it gets out of hand, we may have to lock it. Just a fair warning of what may happen

People who have to create conspiracy and hate threads to further a cause lacks in intellectual comprehension of diversity.

    Worse:

Star Wars Galaxies: Unethical way of changing a game 2 years into production
Knight Online: So many exploits and hacks makes the game no fun
The Matrix Online: Community almost non existant and severe lack of content

    Best:

Everquest 2: Endless amounts of content, thousands of fun quests
WoW: nice artistic touch and fun for casual game players
City of Heroes/Villians: fun mmo that is different than anything else
EVE: DIe hard PvP and very mature player base

The WoW community drives me insane. Full of immature 10 year old trash talkers, who just love to go to open PvE place and just go around and kill people all day!

WoW communitys vary server to server.
The one I play on (low population RP server) is great, I've actually been able to roleplay!

Well that's a specific server community not the overall WoW community, my old server gorgonnosh(if that's how it's spelled) was pretty good too, with the exception of a few bad apples.

    ----------------------------------
MMOs Retired From: Earth and Beyond, Project Entropia, There, A Tale in the Desert, Star Wars Galaxies, World of Warcraft, Eve Online, City of Heroes/Villains.

wow is by far the worst i have ever experienced in over 6 years of online gaming, i have characters on pvp and pve/rp servers. while the rp servers are much better...the pvp servers are horrible.

the best imo was eq1-thats all that needs to be said ::::40::

SOG is NOT open beta. Your not supposed to "test" it.

It's really hard to say one in general. Because that would be incorrect. It's the MMORPG community as a whole that's getting worse. Some people that say WoW has worse community. Would be shocked to know quite a few of those players also play games like EQ2, SWG, and AO.

So for worse community I would say "entire mmorpg community"

    In War - Victory.
    In Peace - Vigilance.
    In Death - Sacrifice.

None of the above, Guild Wars is by far the saddest gathering of human beings in a mmo.
  • MelficeMelfice Member Posts: 45

basically any game without a monthly fee is going to have a horrible community. irose, rakion, and gunz are quick to come to mind.

Are you suggesting DnL restrict the "kind of people" who can get an account? Who would be the ones "allowed" to play the pre-game? Celebrities and royalty? Why don't you lay your prejuidice out for us.

    1. Guild Wars - by far the most annoying community (racism, babyish-sex-talk, mission-dropouts, smacktalkingly-pointless-pvp, and most of all drivel drivel drivel) with the only saving grace being the ability to turn off local chat.  (And the fact that the game is almost entirely soloable image)

    2. EQ2 - This is in some ways worse than GW because there is NO COMMUNITY.  I spent 2 months in-game and no one talked to anybody!  It was all soloers (and groups of 2) running around with NO interaction at all.

I wouldn't class any other MMO's community as being extremely bad (of those I've played).  As others have also said, the WoW server I was on (Perenolde) didn't have any real probs; SO MANY people who wanted to group with you that sometimes the constant group requests got annoying, but I'll take that any day over an EQ2 type 'community'.

    *Cough ::::19::

Anyways just about any game that
-Doesn't involve social interaction with other players,
-Games that make you play mostly solo
-Games that dont require planning & tactics,
-Games that make you think your in a Single Player RPG
(not a single effect to you playing)
-Games that dont have anti-hack systems

For some reason, I always find people to talk to and to socialize in anime MMORPG's..
Although you will always find an immature player here, then & there..

Tammy the question was on the communities of these games not the developers or the games.

    IMHO -

SWG had a very strong community which has be split in 2 by the recent changes, I'd say give it a month or 2 and those of us left will be a strong community again.

EQ2 and WoW both seem to have a your not in my guild attitude so I won't group with you attitude, although I've found you can still get Pugs in both if you try. WoW does have more "kiddies" proclaiming how l33t they are though.

PS Community still seems the same to me, most complaints are "are weapons sux compared to the other 2" which is funny because all three sides seem to say this ;)

But yeah GW has a really bad community I just don't bother trying to get groups there anymore, not worth the effort. And I'm almost posiitive the mental age of the player base is 2.

Well considering this game hasn't even been mentionied yet.

I think Final Fantasy XI should be awarded the award, considering Square has begun to listen to its community and is attempting to repel the gil sellers and rewarding its community with another new expansion to the plot. Along with the Blue Mage job and possibly even more.

Currently I am playing EQ2, WoW, FFXI, and GW and out of all of them I currently am deleting the accounts for EQ2 and GW. And switching to a free server on WoW that my friend plays on. But besides that out of the 14 hours I'm awake. 5 of them are FFXI leveling all the jobs.

I choose FFXI just because it hasn't been listed as even a choice for a game and I indeed think it should be.

Ociffer I swear to drunk I'm not god

    FFXI-(Asura - Airram, Valefor - Zyten)
    WoW-(Retired)
    LotR:O-(Brandywine - Zyten)
