I'm not so much worried about the actual content of the question; I am worried that SOE is taking the RPG and fantasy aspect away from EQN. I can handle action oriented combat instead of tab targeting, I can handle all races being allowed to play all classes, but I can't handle SOE having the public decide on their game direction.
Yes the lore is different. It has the same elements and names of things but is a seperate set of lore. Guns aren't out of the question from a logical standpoint. Gnomes can build mech suits and clockwork things but can't figure out how to make a gun... when wizards can channel magic the same way?

/agree, it seems to me that they havent a real project about this game.

Thanks for the heads up. Won't even bother with it then.
1.I do not hate the use of pistols and riffles that are being used in gw2. However, I prefer them not to be used.
2.Ninja makes me think assassin/rogue/thief type. Could be a variation of a classic rogue with maybe some cool leaps, walking on water, and chinese stars that could be have dots (bleeds, poisons). To me its just a variation of above. I do not know if a ninja is fitting since (from what read) only date back (at the earliest) to the 12th century.

Personally I agree with you for the most part. I wouldnt care much if they put guns of some type in EQN, they could treat it as some kinda early black powder musket or something. But I would rather they didnt, if they do however it will not be game breaking to me.
As far as Ninja, I would love it. I would love for them to get away from the every damn game in the world rogue. A ninja could add aspects to the rogue type that would be quite silly on a rogue but would fit right in with ninja. when you say rogue, I think a theif that will lie cheat and steal from you and tries to stay in the shadows because he is weaker and does this back stab thing. When you say Ninja, I think a wicked badass assassin that IS the shadows can murder you from any direction because his strikes are so precise that he can hit vital organs and find chinks in any armor as easily as you cry hax.
And just a note Xanthmetis ninjas wouldnt use chinese stars because Ninja are Japanese. /wink
In Forgotten Realms there is smoke powdered weapons invented by gnomes and it has ninjas as well and is considered high fantasy. Warhammer Fantasy is considered a dark fantasy setting but the dwarves in that world use black powdered weapons in war.
Look at what the gnomes make in the other EQ games , which has technology that far exceeds simple fire arms. I think there is room for it in Norrath. Just my two copper though.

You would love an ogre or a troll ninja too?

While I dont realy agree with ninja's on norath I can somewhat accept them being there as class, after all they existed around the 12th century. That said I do preffer them not being part of the game.
I seriously have to question the intelligence of anyone who didn't choose "It depends what it is, I think it needs to be discussed on a case-by-case basis." or "I don't have a strong opinion either way."

You just noticed that something is wrong at SOE ?

If you watch the class panel there is a montage of weapon wielding animations, about 24 of them. In there is a character dual wielding pistols.

Ahh didn't notice that. Good find. I guess with the clockwork gnomes would be the only way guns would work. But no Ninjas period.

Hey we may finally get the Shadowrun-ish mmo some of us have wanted!
j/k, not my cup of tea for an EQ setting.
Cheers!

They needed a "HELL NO!" option on the poll, but I went with the only no they had. It just doesn't feel enough.

Voted NO, absolutely! NO GUNS! NO ASIAN ARCHETYPE!
P.S. but I like the Katana sword anyway

Agreed on no "Ninja". There are so many other ways to convey that type of class in a fantasy setting.
Shadow Walker
Mistblade
Deathstalker
etc.
As far as guns I hope they are crystal/magic or steam based rather than powder. 2cp

Guns on the otherhand are a nono to me.
Since when are ninjas and guns "modern concepts"?
