Never. The game is a huge joke. The people making it are incompetant, inconsiderate, and really just laughable.
I've been following the "game" for over 2 years. I sat and remained calm and patient through all of the delays and stood by even though there was so little information released.
Now they have done it again, missing yet another deadline, without any notification. I'm through, and the worst part is, I already gave them $60 for a Pioneer Key. Who wants it? It's worthless anyway.
ill buy it for cost if your serious.
really i dont see its half an hour but this is the straw that broke the camels back? hehe
maybe in the past they missed openings but isn'yt this the first time they had you pay for a key ??

its 5 days and 45 minutes late. the 5 days was so that "everyone has a fair chance to download"
really they needed 5 more days to try to get ready, and it wasnt enough. they havnt posted the reason for the delay because they are running short on stories.

I tried but i simply cannot see any logical explanation to why a mentally stable adult would do such a thing. Its just one of those mysteries i guess.

People pre-order stuff all the time without seeing it or trying it out first. I wasn't interested in this particular game to pre-order because I'm not entirely convinced they can pull it off. I've pre-ordered plenty of stuff in the past, however. I even pre-ordered Horizons even though I was in the beta. D'oh! I was in a lovely guild, however, and I thought there was a chance the company would honour their promises. Oh well... live and learn. Except for the fact that I thought this pre-order was WAAAAY overpriced... what's the difference? Obviously nearly 9,000 people believe this game is going to be good so they bought it. I might not take a chance on this particular game, but I don't see what's so hard to believe that others would.
I did think it was all a bit odd, however. Wasn't this the game that was supposed to be a free download with just a monthly fee? I don't remember and I don't peruse their site too often... it's much too slow and I'm much too impatient.

It's a win-win situation. If the game is great then I have a pioneer account with special benefits. If the game sucks then I sell my key on Ebay and double my money.
I can't get my mind around why anyone wouldn't spend 60 bucks on a key if they follow the game.
It appears that it is postponed until 2PM GMT, now. Their site is a bit quicker, although they seem to have turned off most things, including "serch". Or maybe it was always turned off... I don't know.
ok I've got a slight problem here.....I downloaded 1.3gb over the weekend only to login today to start downloading another 1.2 gb. Is this a freaking 24h+ patch download or have they forgot to add a routine to check if the game is actually installed!?

I have been around computers for a long time and even the download was interesting. I had to download a download manager then download two seperate programs: A Launcher and SoG.exe file. This in contrast to other downloads that download one file and execute/install when finished. I have a cable modem and I've been downloading since yesterday...yeah, yesterday.
I'm not sure if it's because they're not net savvy but even finding accommodating the 10,000 free keys seemed an issue. Their website is what I would consider horrible. Their game play guide is pure text and no screenshots to see what the interface will look like or how to use it.
Now with the delay, I am beginning to wonder about their server loads, lag and game performance issues.
If this game flops, I'll consider it a learning lesson and not worry about my $60.00
I did the same thing. The SoG was still on my desktop instead of in the launcher file. D'oh! I swear I put it in there! Anyway, just click on the SoG application and say "no to all". Then it should fly through the new bits.
Aye I got it sorted, it was installed right but the launcher needed to be told the right path.
Another 40 mins and the server should be up.................apparently

If this is true we have about 50 minutes until the server goes up and about 14 hours until their 2.29 day shutdown period.
Well, that's for the $60 people, no? Everyone else has to wait until the servers are closed tomorrow to log in, right? I don't know what the hell I'm talking about anymore... this whole game has me way more confused than I'm comfortable with!

Heh I was there at the AO release. I remember trying to walk thru town it would take me 30 minutes, 10 discconects and a lot of screaming at the computer. AO was by far the worst and most frustrating release of any major MMORPG. Such a shame it was a good game with severe technical problems. I hope dnl is as good a game.
Signe, yes the server today is just for the pre-orders. Free accounts are schedulded for tommorow but keep in mind thats the same time as their 2.29 days of weekly downtime. Which goes from 6am GMT Tuesday until 1pm gmt on Thursday. Will they have that weekly downtime this week? I don't know? But these develoeprs seem to specialize in giving less and saying its more. So I would not count on logging in until Thursday night. Although there will be some very mad people if they try to do that.
Sorry but its a terrible marketing tool. They have alienated most of their long term fanbase, created many enemies and have pt themselves in position where people trust them about as much as they do the mourning devs all because of refusing to let anyone see their product. I have never seen a developer try to hide their product like Farlan. Generally when devs want to hide their product its because its very bad. If they had something good to show us they would show it to us. The best marketing tool is word of mouth. If they had a good product they would drop the NDA and let their testers voices be heard. If they thought we would like DnL they would let us play a smaller version of DnL rather than go to the trouble of making up this SoG sham. No One can say for sure if DnL will be bad but the simarlarities between DnL's development and other release failures such as Horizons, SWG, Mourning, Shadowbane, AO, Wish and Irth are hard to ignore. I diasgree on the screenshots they are IMO terrible and look 3-5 years out of date.
Oh btw they are saying in IRC that the servers were supposed to go up 4 minutes ago. I hope this third time is more accurate. This game is becoming one giant April fools joke.
