If you enjoy reading the dnl forums they should be even more interesting once people start playing. If the gameplay is as bad as it looks the dnl forums may turn into a war between fanboys and people protesting this sham. Jackdog or Inferno said it best when they said the forums might provide much more entertainment than the game itself.
Over two years I followed the so-called "development" of that game, waiting for the Official Site to start LOOKING LIKE an Official Site, waiting on class info, skills info, trade info, and waiting on the great, cool videos like other game companies produce.
Watching how, when every newbie posted a question on the boards, a dozen "old-timers" would screech at him to, "Read the freaking FAQs!" And knowing full well that the FAQs were woefully inadequate to answering even the most basic questions.
Yet, I saw lots of "roleplaying" stories on their main site and wondered WTF is this crap? I want meat and potatoes and they are serving up only the gravy. "Lore" is easy to create -- developing a real game is much, much harder.
Also, the beta testers "testimonials" -- carefully sanitized puff-pieces of praise -- left me rolling my eyes in disbelief.
However, the fanbois formed a tight line and defended that game against all common sense attacks. Slowly, I distanced myself from the crowd because, deep down, I felt something was terribly amiss about this game ... and I didn't want to make excuses for it.
I can read the writing on the wall ... before my face gets smashed into it....

1. double click the launcher and install to the directory of your choice (default program files/darkandlight/sog) 2. EXTRACT sog.exe to the launcher folder (i used winrar) just right click SOG.exe and click extract files... then choose the launcher folder. 3. start>darkandlight>launcher to run the patcher/launcher.
