Never fear, your dream MMO will be here.... just give me a decade or two to finely hone my Game development and design abilities as well as start a Game Design Studio. Thank you for your patience.
Not sure if that's a serious thread, but if it is, well I admire your enthusiasm, but think you need to see your life in a new perspective. And I am a gamer myself
Ohhh YES.... gaming is AWESOME. I live in my own little fantasy world like an autistic kid, disconnected from society in a social realm that I tell myself is being social instead of actually going out and meeting people, deteriorate my health and relationships.... yes being a gamer is AWESOME!!!!
Seriously.... gamers are exactly what Rousseau warned against with the advancement of science and technology.

You do realize that you're asking people if they think "gaming is awesome" on a forum located on a website totally dedicated to gaming, at midnight, during the middle of the week....

Can't tell if the OP is being sarcastic or not.
Actually, there are many groups of people that are looking into the use of games as educational tools:
There are many, many more cases of video games having beneficial effects. Not every gamer is a basement troll who has an addiction to World of Warcraft.
Little forum boys with their polished cyber toys: whine whine, boo-hoo, talk talk.

Do not let the people on this site get you down. Some people have just had a bad day. Other people have character flaws that you can do nothing to fix; that is something they have to choose to fix themselves.

Being a nerd means embracing the future. Seizing opportunity in every crevice of technology we can find, and chasing those opportunity's with ambition. I don't know what I've posted in the past, but it doesn't matter. I want to open everyone who reads this post to a new open view of the world around us and how gifted you are to have taken the steps into being a nerd. You don't allow the common view of society affect your own views of the world and you don't let people drag you in to becoming a stale, unimaginative person. You embrace the stories and universe that are presented to you with every game you play, you have an interest and passion for computers and the advancement in technology in general. You are open to new ideas and look to better yourself, not in singularly building your muscles, or spending money on unnecessary items of clothing to impress people, you look to better yourselves mentally and you grab at every item of information you can find. You see everything in an enlightening way, beautiful ways.
Being a nerd is awesome.
You edited your posts so I have a hard time understanding what you meant and I'm sorry if I misunderstood you.
But being a nerd or a gamer doesn't necessary mean any of those things you mentioned. Players shouldn't be accociated with knowledge, technology or imagination, because most of players lack in all of above.
And what hurts me most here, is that you talk about improving yourself only mentally as a good thing, which is just so terribly wrong in so many ways. Every person should do everything they can to improve both physically and mentally. One is nothing without the other, your mind and your body must go together. Healthy, well shaped person not only is happier, but also gets more joy from gaming or reading books. I always try to balance out equally my study with my workout, and that is what most gamers neglect. They are wery often out of shape and look unhealthy no matter if they are teenagers or family men. And you should never say being like that is awesome. You should never encourage people to sit in front of their computers all free time, because being an out of shape nerd is a good thing, this is just wrong.

PS: "Their" ambition, not "they're"...

What answers are you expecting?
Actually, there are many groups of people that are looking into the use of games as educational tools:
Educating students through the use of the Civilization series.
A study by the Mind Research Network reveals that playing 'Tetris' on a regular basis can improve critical thinking, planning skills, reasoning, and even language.
Video games and health care.
Video games that help autistic students.
There are even some games that have been built to help solve real world problems:
Video game helps solve protein structures.
Others use game theory to help solve really tough problems:
Using games to thwart terrorists.
There are many, many more cases of video games having beneficial effects. Not every gamer is a basement troll who has an addiction to World of Warcraft.
