Can't create character

in Final Fantasy XIV

I created a character and when I click "confirm" I get a message that I cannot create anymore characters.  The problem is that I haven't created any characters yet.

I would check the official forums, but I have no idea where those forums are.  Any help?

    did you try a diffreant server selection

    I had this same problem. The solution for me was going into C:/documents/mygames and deleting the FFXIV data folders in there. 

    It seems the server is only registering that you can have one character created and I had a saved one there from the previous beta that the uninstall did not get rid of, weird glitch I know but it worked for me to delete all folders labelled FFXIV in the my games folder (aka, saved data).

    had the same problem, even their own roll character name wouldn't be accepted. I did a relog and even then it didn't work, then I tried a different class so switch from Archer to Warrior and it worked. Unfortunaly now I am stuck with warrior.

    I'm currently in the final beta, and they've announced in game that they're opening two new worlds (servers) for the Japanese side.  I'm not sure why they would block character creations because of it, but apparently until they get those (the servers) up to speed, they're not allowing people to create any "new" characters, which probably sucks for those that received invites today.

    Finally got it resolved.  Had to log out and start completely over.  It looked like there was a an unsaved character still in the creation queue.
