I heard you just spammed your strongest ability over and over from people in beta.

In FF you have to know how to play your jobs, this can turn people off, cause people spend so much time soloing they really never learn how to play their job or class. To level in FFXI it was a grind , relic wepons= grind, AF= grind, airship pass= grind, chocobo= grind, you had to wiki almost every quest you did and mostly quest took anywhere from an hour to 4 hours to complete. Job quests for ninja and samurai very long. Anyone remember doing the dancer quest and how tense that was, How about the Matt fights? My point being is take the game and its lore in, you wont be dissapointed, anything you earn in game you will def earn it, but this game is not for everybody and I realize that, my point being is you get what you pay for in mmos and this game has lasting appeal, the game will survive because of Japanese players not NA players. Any comments?

Wonderful summary of what to expect from a FF game.  This game is not for everyone and thats what I like about it, things take time to complete.  Missions and gear require time to get, it keeps the people that really want to stay and build a community in the game.  All the others that want things handed to them, there are 100's of mmo's to play.

own 1.0, played ARR beta and preordered PS3 CE box, will be subbing without question. Playing in this latest beta has simply got me even more stoked. This game is exactly what I needed.

Then they must do something wrong right? Who in the hell is spamming the strongest ability's in a game?..

On-topic : I'll be surely playing the game. It starts slow, pretty different then generic mmo's, but as you level, the games open a lot. Also the cooldown on skills, starts to be much lower, as you level up. First difference I saw it at around level 14, and I am pretty sure it will be even better, as you level up.

For does who didn't enjoy it, I say to them : play it with an open mind. Relax, look around, read some quest text, take some screen shots, read the help icons when they show up because it makes a big difference in learning the game, and then maybe , it will change your mind.

the game plays like WoW. if you don't mind that then you will probably enjoy it. i like it well enough, it is very FF-like and the storyline isn't bad at all. i just wish they would have had a bit more voice acting for the cutscenes but that is a minor complaint.

i will be playing for sure.

The game has a good feel to it, as themeparks go.   There's nuance added to the usual themepark experience with the depth of the gathering and crafting disciplines, as well as the multiclassing.   It won't be a game where you have nothing to do but raid after playing a little while.

Community is amazing.   I've been playing a couple days and I haven't heard a single rude thing in shout.   That's something I would think is outright impossible and yet here it is.    That alone could warrant playing.

With all that said, I don't know that there's much here to hold someone long term paying a sub.     I mean that literally, I don't know.   No idea what things are like later on.   Maybe it's good not to know once in a while.

I have the 1.0 CE so I have a couple weeks of free play time with the game apparently.   I've had fun since the open beta started, enough that I'll play on through those couple weeks at least.   Then we'll see where we're at I guess.

idk, I just heard that.  I am kind of interested in this game as a filler until Wildstar comes out, but not if the previous sentiment I heard was true.

Does this game have a monthly sub?  What is the payment model?

I don't know what to say. People want to be heroes from lvl 1. My only fear was about combat issues from previous betas and it's gone, fixed.
  • SithosSithos Member UncommonPosts: 315

    Absolutely,

The game itself is "MEH",it's not horrible but it's also not overly inspired either. I was hoping to use it as a filler game until Wildstar. What really ruined it was the community,or lack thereof.  I made the mistake of agreeing with someone who stated that some of the animations seemed lackluster. He/She and I were literally swamped with hate. We were told to go back to WoW or some other kids game, called n00bs,fagg0t etc etc all within a span of a couple min.  I will not be bothering with this game at all.

Why does my opinion in a videogame matter?

It would be the same thing as telling you my opinions in certain sports

I like some and i hate some lol

The PvE has me very happy. I cant wait to get to the point my char has spme depth with a couple of classes under my belt. If the PvP ends up being any good, I may never leave. To the people who think playing a few hours of open beta tells them this game sucks, I feel bad you will be missing out because of your own shortsightedness. Take it from a 15 year MMO vet, this game holds a lot of promise. Cant wait to get to end game and see if it pays out.

It's not so much being a hero from lvl 1, it's being ENGAGED from lvl 1.

That being said, open beta has not changed how I feel about the game. I came in with low expectations, and was not disappointed. It's better than the abomination it was in vanilla, but that's like saying eating a turd sandwich is better than having your fingers shoved through a paper shredder. The game is mediocre, uninspired, and generic. To put it bluntly: the game is a WoW clone. And we have enough of those on the market already.

I have no idea why Square thinks people will be willing to play a sub for this. The game just does not have enough substance to justify the price tag in this day and age.

So far I only got to level 4.  I spend a lot of time setting up my UI ( moving things around, making them smaller ) and trying my best to understand the map system ( cities are devided, and not sure what part of it your on ).

Anyway as far as game play......Yes so far at level 4 its easy, hundreds of people every place that makes it agervating. At level 4 I killed a level 9 very easy. But thats how all mmos started off, infact I was just playing Vanilla WoW and you were invensible like all mmos up to level 10.

I will not judge yet, not until level 20, but my only REAL COMPLAINT so far is the mass amount of people !

I think that this game is the best mmo to come out since WoW. So, keeping my pre-order is a no brainer, and also I am going to be getting a 6 month subscription :).

I can see how a reasonable person would think this game is "mediocre, uninspired, and generic". It doesn't have a lot of new features, although the class/job system & gathering/crafting do seem a bit above average. So it's not a total WOW clone in some ways.

As far as substance and price tag. It's way too early to judge the substance. We really only have first impressions.

The price tag is actually pretty good.

It's not that the price is outrageous, it's just that there are better games out there that don't charge a sub fee, or eschew up front costs all together.

Maybe, I'm wrong. Maybe it gets better later on. I just don't see many people being engaged long enough to get to the "Later on" part.

You may be right. Many people could be turned off by the first 15 levels... /Bummer.

I'd say it is worthy of something to pass the time while waiting for EQ Landmark.

This weekend's beta changed my mind from "must get this!!1" to "i think i can't handle generic themepark'in anymore".

while I fully agree that the first 15 levels should be shortened to like 5-10 levels, I really think it might be a blessing since for those who will continue to play, the first 15 levels might be a good filter for a cluster of MMO players that has no patience. to give an example , those said players will fail at end game instance once, and than say fu and this instance. there are many example where I actually find it good filter for this niche set of players.

If you expect anything new from it, action combat, fast paced combat - you have no rights to be bash that game since from very beginning it was clear what direction its going and it's only your fault that you tried it w/o checking what its about before playing.

Not sure why people keep referring to it as "old school". It's not, at all.

It has no emphasis on grouping, you can do everything outside of dungeons solo, the time it takes to level is some of the fastest I have ever experienced in a game, no fear of dying, telegraphed combat, quest hub based, zone markers everywhere, and slow combat (No, it's not tactical, with a 2.5sec Global Cooldown it's simply slow). That is  just a couple of things I can think of off the top of my head. How this game is considered "old school" to me is baffling.

Not only is there no emphasis on grouping. I literally find it impossible to have any reason, or benefit to grouping in the main world. Even battleleve's which activate for all party members, only give XP to the person who picked it up.

I feel pretty useless as a conjurer, and at level 19 there's still not reason to party up with my RL friend who started in Ul'Dah

I'm still going to keep playing because I get a month free and $5 monthly as a legacy account. Hoping I can enjoy some of the later level dungeons while getting a bit of my mmo fix.
