Phase 4: Open Beta?

I may be out to lunch but is the current beta phase not open beta?  I signed up for beta on Aug 5, pre-ordered on Aug 5, went through all the hoops to register and I have yet to receive a beta key. Am I only eligible for the head start?

It is open beta. If you signed up for beta you can play right now.

I signed up a  while ago. I have even gone in a few more times and it says I am already registered???

Don't sweat it man you aren't missing much. Thousands of players have been locked out all weekend with a 3102 character in game error and the ones that can play can't do their instances because of a 90000 error that happens.

The beta forums are down and all twitter talks about is adding servers and not fixing the problem that is affecting a large part of their tester base. Their customer support is off some where napping since there is no weekend staff. It's the worst open beta that I have ever played ( for a few hours)  :-)

I never received a beta key. I have signed up with 3 separate accounts and all I've ever gotten from Squre Enix is registration confirmation emails.

Since I just joined in Open beta, I can tell you that I was able to enter without any key.  It seems that at this point just applying makes you automatically enter the Open beta without any key sent to you.

So just download, login and enjoy.

You shouldn't need a beta key.

If you download the client you should be able to play now.

That's a bit strange, I got my key soon after I registered, but it may have been luck based, who knows. Wait, August 5th? That's really late. The date for beta key application was like July 20-July 31st. So you didn't get a key because you didn't register in time. Duh. I don't even know how you managed to register for beta since beta registration was closed.

Why are you surprised that you registered? You applied to register and you registered, seems normal to me. :P

Like other said, just get the client and hop in with one of those accounts you made, haha.

To be honest with headstart 6 days away I am really concerned.
