The biggest issue for me: Not knowing what items are part of items sets when selling/destroying

skamperskamper Member UncommonPosts: 252
I am starting to get to that point in the game where I have a ton of gear spread across multiple classes (4 level 20s and a few 5-15s), and I'm finding my armory chest cluttered and no way of knowing what is part of what set. They really need to add an indicator to the tooltip or a warning message when deleting/selling. I will post this up on the forums when they come back, but hopefully some SE developers read this. This is a big problem, especially in a game that revolves around multiple sets of gear and classes.

It takes a lot of work yes, but that's very very very rewarding.

Not sure if you understand what I am saying.

I get what you're saying and is why I'm going to stick to as few classes at a time for leveling :P.

This is why you are in beta. Once people understand that Beta isn't launch, we will be in a better world. You need to go post your suggestions and findings in the beta member forums. There is a place for that. All the people complaining here really does nothing

The game releases in a week, and the beta forums are down.

"This is beta" is NEVER a constructive reply to any stage of the game. You should be able to freely discuss various issues, without someone coming in and using a one liner to shut you down. This is an issue and will only get worse as the game progresses and you attain more gear and classes. And this game would still be in 1.0, if it weren't for people speaking up.

I like the game, but there are flaws.

Ya but these forums have become flame/complain central. But ohwell, I only stay active for the beta opportunities from the site. People need to learn that if they are not happy move on.

This is a problem that people have already reported in the beta forums.According to the feedback status list tho, they'll implement an inventory sorting system after launch.

Another item that they have scheduled for after launch : "We are looking into displaying the items you have equipped in the Armoury Chest. With this, we plan to eliminate the varying positions of equipment when switching gear sets." That probably means that if you do try to organize your armoury, your stuff will keep its position.

i agree it would be nice to have it (also other features like tooltip of item showing what you currently have eqipped in that slot etc.)

on the other hand - it is not that hard to click over all of the sets to see what they are wearing, you may have more sets than i do but i have sum of levels 125, so not that few also and didnt have problems to click it through. expecially since you only need click through that specific class type (war/magic/craft/harvest), not the remaining 3

As fan of this game I don't see this changing by launch :P.  I see it changing down the road but not by launch.  This last beta was simply for giving the servers a real stress test and considering all the login issues I think that was done.

I'd agree.  I didn't get so many levels but I did unlock every class and things were getting cluttered, especially for weapons.

Every time I hit a new level range with a character I'd have to hover gear endlessly to see if I had upgrades in every slot.

You can place things within the chest for some organization but due to how it swaps out stuff when you switch sets it gets jumbled immediately so even this doesn't do much for you.

I also don't like that you can't resize UI elements like the gear set list or duty tracker.  I play on 1920x1080.  Anything else would be uncivilized.  I can fit more stuff on screen.  Having to scroll my gear set list because it's been arbitrarily set to a fixed size well below what my screen can handle is a bummer.

I could easily have 2x as many quests listed on the tracker.  And since you can't hide, stop tracking, collapse, or do anything else to organize your tracked quests, and since you could easily have more than the 5 it'll show, it's another bummer.

Overall I think the UI in this game is a mixed bag.  It has some slickness and customization potential but it's also lacking or locked down in unpleasant ways.

For example, it's nice that you start with large amount of inventory space.  But you can't display multiple open bags at once (and moving stuff between bags is wonky), change the layout, there's no auto sort or search, etc.

Other elements are odd at times too.  Like you can repair most of your gear with the appropriate skill but to do so you'd have to change classes about 10x and manually do every single item in your inventory one by one.  Not happening.  If you repair at a vendor it's wonky in that you can't just repair all.  FF has this really odd way of grouping gear together and you have to repair each grouping separately, making for multiple "repair" all calls.  Even when you do that, you still have gear that never gets repaired.  It's just a really poor and hokie way to handle what should be an incredibly simple operation, and given how simplistic the game is as a whole, it's just odd.  I don't think you can blame this on consoles either.  It's just weird.

Premium MMORPGs do not feature built-in cheating via cash for gold pay 2 win. PLAY to win or don't play.

This should improve as you get higher level.  For now, most of us are leveling 2-3 classes which means we need to have gear for levels 1-20 on hand at all times.  This is even worse if you have to cross archetype (war -> magic).

There should be a warning that pops up if you try to sell an item that is part of a saved gear set, same as it does for 100% soulbound gear.

Ya, I wish you could save sets and they would tell you what item is part of what set so you knew what you could sell. Or even if you could make sub tabs for sets. Rings for healers, rings for melee DPS, rings for Tanking. That way all the classes items are not in one big pool. It really is an awesome idea that needs some polish.

I do agree as i found this same problem myself.

I have not played the game enough so i have not fully figured it all out,but i did notice there are colored dots on each item. What purpose are those dots?Perhaps they are a sort of what you are looking for, perhaps they indicate they are already part fo a set?

None the less,i do agree there are still some areas that could be shored up,but having played FFXI,i can tell you Square likes to make things a tad difficult or keep a lot of things a secret.IMO a simple tag system like what i mentioned with the dots, could have one color to show it is part of a saved set and one color to show it is no longer viable as in you need to use a higher tier.

I can tell you there is the basics, like the same gear can be used over several classes,so you don't need to save a set for every class using different gear.

Its not so bad in P4 since they added the X on items you cant use.
  • cerockscerocks Member UncommonPosts: 33
A different but similar issue I have is when I complete a quest and I have the option to choose between gear or a tin piece. Rather than opening the armoury chest and looking to see it I already have those items it would be great if they could be greyed out if I already have them. That would make choosing the correct reward far easier. I have 10 hempen kurtas! It's good to see that SE are planning a system to organise the armoury chest and inventories. It's a small gripe though and the only one I have :)

The dots only show what colour the item is, but something similar could be done to show which set it is part of i'm sure.

yeah i agree , its frustrating as hell...

    example

    i was selling items , and sold a lvl 5 weapon because i had a lvl 10...

tried to change to conjuror.......was unable because i had equiped the lvl 5 (forgot reassign gear)....

now? when i equip the lvl 10 weapon , i go nude........and have re-assign all the gear ....and having to hover over all the robes (other clases ,crafting , gathering ) pfffffffff
