What is the best job for ffxi? im currently a lvl 10 monk with no money and server pandamonium (that's not how you spell but close enough) and i was talking to this guy in my ls and he said change to a ranger and something else but my internet went out on me

The best job is whatever you're happiest playing. It's trite, but it's true. In any case, note that a) Ranger is an advanced job; you have to do a quest to unlock it, and you can't get the quest unless you're level 30 (however, the quest itself is very easy) and b) if being broke is your problem, Ranger's gonna be agony for you. Ranger is not a cheap job to play.

And I am sorry to hear that you are broke, but there are some easy ways of chainging that. You can keep leveling up you character and farm some of the low level items like rabbit pelts and bat wings. Or you coud take up fishing. Just grab a bamboo pole and some little worms and go out and fish up some moat carp from West Ron. or East Sarutarubaratu. Or you can buy some earthen/brass pots and start growing some crystals in you mog house. Look on this page for all the information you really need. Click on the tradeskill forum button on the left menu, then click on the link to the Tradeskill Guide, then go all the way down to the guides for making money. Lots of good information there. And by the way, learn how to use the auction house, and don't just sell the items to vendors automatically.

As for the best job, that is really up to you to decide. There are only a few things to do in this game, but each job can usually only do one really well. Do you want to do lots of damage to the mobs (monster or boss) or would you rather support your team by buffs, songs, or plain healing. You need to decide what you want to do in the game to the mobs, then play it though learing all the neuances of the game. Money and jobs are somewhat related, but any job can make good money. Black Mages make good Area of Effect farmers, killing lots of lower mobs at once. White Mages can use teleports at higher levels, which if you choose to follow on of the HELM (harvesting, excavation, Logging, Mining) comes in really handy. Like already mentioned, it all depends on your own playing style and what you like to do. That said, some jobs are in much higher demand than others so you could say that some jobs are more important than others, simply because they can do something that no other or few other jobs can do.
I dont really think Ranger is one of the high demand jobs so you could have to wait a while for pt invites...plus its really expensive, even if you can make your own ammo.

I am in Ramuh. Or else I'd help you out in a more practical sense. MNK is a great job so don't be dissapointed in it. You just need to be taken around the ropes of the game a few times in order to get used to money making.

Well i suggest playing warrior till level 30 it's the easiest job to level first and then after that go to whatever job you want to do if your broke then try being a thf a thf is never broke. rdm is a great job, but as long as your not lazy theres no reason for you to be broke try farming.
But in My opinion the best job would be Dragoon or Samurai ( MY OPINION) or a thf.
Dragoon and samurai are advanced jobs so make your choice but if you have a problem getting money become a thf.
