FFXIV: ARR's story and voice acting

I mean yeah, most of the speech in the beta was voiced in speech bubbles. But ya know, Square Enix is a world class RPG developer and basically they know how to make great stories. And I found in the beta that Square Enix had a shared focus on bringing that story to the gamers. The beta's FFXIV: ARR's story was unmatched, unparalelled, in worlds that I could only dream were true. It's bringing the fantasy back into Final Fantasy. And this series is going to be back, story and all, with it's new edition, yes too 8 years to make, but FFXIV: ARR is finally hitting shelves this fall.

on a side note...... don't use a Voip like mumble or teamspeak or you wont beable to pay attention to the story line thinks to all the chatter on those, and you cant here the npc's over peaples voices either... I found that out the other day.

Kinda a double edged sword using those programs.... its like you wanna keep up with what they doing and answer questions they have, and even get stuff going through those prgrams, but you really can't pay attention to the storyline, when they are talking about random things constantly.

Aparently some people don't pay attention to the story line when they play...

Lol, seeing as we only had access to 1-20, what there was was basically [spoilers]: 'You're the big important hero, now go save the world'. Don't know that it warrants such awe. But I have reasonably high hopes for the story given the 1.0 storyline was decent, if a little unfocused at times, and it built up a lot of anticipation for ARR's story...

I wasn't impressed by the voice acting they did have in p4; a lot of it sounded like the actors were phoning it in. But, I am not one to let such things spoil a story too much for me.

I've said this before, but it didn't take 8 years to make btw. It took 5 years to make 1.0, then they scrapped everything but the lore and began ARR.

I find thancards voice acting severly out of place, dude has the face of 20 year old but sounds like a 45 year old.

Voice acting since they started including it in the FF games has always been kind of hit-or-miss for me.  Audio quality aside, I really liked the party voices in XII, but hated most of them in X.  Loved Lightning and Sazh in XIII, couldn't stand Snow or Vanille.  I thought Thancred sounded terrible.  They should have gotten Henry Cavill.image
