It's not bad at all ::::38::

It's not even that good.  It's worse then Ferentis Online, RYL, Horizons and a host of other crappy games.  It crashes, to be partially tolerated at this point, but I expect the source of the issues are deeper then they will be able to fix.  This is obviously a much smaller team then I ever expected.

I am surprised at how bad this launch has gone -- now I know why.

I am enjoying the game.  Its better than I thought but its not in the class of Horizons.  Horizons is a much better game.  Better graphics and gameplay.  It is much more like the previous posters Ferentus online but just not as intuitive. polished or smooth.

Wait a minute, you are saying this is a good game, but it is not as good as Horizons!? Horizons was crap! If this game is worse than crap, well, it isn't a good game.

I think the problem is that we've all been anticipating this game for a long time and got our hope and dreams up thinking this is going to be the MMORPG of all time, then when reality hits we walk away saying the game is not all that, etc. for various reasons.

Even though I'm not made the SoG cutoff, I've been trying to tame down my excitement over SoG knowing that as soon as I find one small thing I don't like about the game..well you know... all hell will break loose from there and I'll find myself looking for another game that's "perfect" in my minds eye.

I think deep game content, a paradigm shift in gaming, and devoted game Devs who support both their product and player base will be what makes DnL a better game than others. Only time will tell.

Eve-Online, EQ2, DnL, SWG (Dead), Guild Wars, Anarchy Online, EQ, DAoC, Planet Side, WoW, LOTR, Tabula Rasa.

  • You're giving the game too much credit comparing it to Horizons. Pick some games that are in Alpha stages and start making your comparisons.. although they will still probably have better replay value then this POS

Hey now, I played Horizons beta and launch.

They both went smoother than this!

Hmm no. Horizons can be considered a commercial blockbuster compared to what DnL will be - a fart of a fly in the MMOG industry.

hey im not supporting this launch at all, but i played(if you can call it that) horizons beta too...and it was rediculous.

at least the other players show up on your screen in DnL!

Just for a giggle, I tried that free trial of Horizons. Nearly all the bugs I came across, were the same bugs I had seen in beta and the bit of release I played. I have a GeForce 7800 GT so I maxed out the setting and still, often times people didn't appear until I was on them... or they looked like those gray statues with no features just like in beta. What the hell have those people been doing all this time?

Horizons may have had disappearing NPC's at launch. However it had content ( bad but still there) decent crafting, and the US server I was on was semi stable. This would be more of a train wreck on the scale of Mourning.

And the same bugs that you guys are complaining about tonight, were the same problems my ffriend who is in the closed beta was complaining about 5 nonths ago. Right down to the Devs that don't care otr communicate.

Well if I could make a suggestion to mmorpg.com, it would be place another meter next to the hype meter, for this game, called the bullsh*t meter.  That would have deter me a bit more I think.

You ppl must have a sucky PC... the game just runs smooth for me(when there are not hundreds of players around me) and the graphics, I must laugh... if your a nub dont say anything... try /enginesetquality high in game, perhaps with your low-end vid card you wont get nice performance, but with a gf 6800 or x800xt you get the coolest graphics aviable out there in MMO's
And about a fart of a fly, dude, that is your opinion, not DnL

Horizons had content? I think you might be confusing it with something else. The only real content the game had was crafting. Even that wasn't complete at launch. Half the promised additions to crafting to my knowledge are in game now, but not then. Or just not in the game at all.

Horizons idea of 'quest' were kill task or 'fetch' for your local craft station quest. The game was devoid of any real content. Not to mention the character models, combat, world terrain, and just about everything else outside of the crafting system was the worse i'd ever seen. Don't even get me started on the armor textures. When EQOA for PS2 has better armor textures then your supposed to be oh so great MMORPG for PC. Then you know you did something wrong.

    In War - Victory.
    In Peace - Vigilance.
    In Death - Sacrifice.

Ok so Horizons was a turd I won't argue that, it was still 1000x better than this turd ..

Roin's right... Horizons had very little content pertaining to combat, anyway. They had some clever ideas, like opening up new area's to unlock races, find new areas to set up housing and create towns, and find new resource areas. They also tried to have player events, some with live teams even. Unfortunately, nothing was implemented very well and most events didn't work out well. Opening new areas was a joke, too. I remember when we opened one up and they weren't actually ready for us and had to shut down. Now THAT was a joke.

From everything I've read so far, on this board, on the official boards, on other boards, this prelude isn't working out very well. I see very few defending the game and way too many people trashing it. The thing is, these are the people who spend the $60... the real fans, I should think. I'll give the thing a go when freebies can get in, and I'll keep it honest. I hope the game gains some success because a lot of us are looking for the next big thang. Unfortunately, I'm not convinced this is "the one".

People just don't understand what SoG is do they?

It's NOT DnL. It's NOT DnL beta (there is a totally separate DnL beta test still going on).

SoG is a free game they decided to release as a token of goodwill. You simply cannot compare it to DnL. And you cannot expect it to rival any of the current mmorpg's out there. It's just a free game for fans of DnL to play while it's being developed. That's all.

Just because it is from the same company hey developed two games using the same engine and same world and same characters they did this in parallel and cannot be compared. Why that is only logical ...right'

SoG is the part of DnL that is finished. drop the BS, I did not ride the short schoolbus. The smoke and mirrors won't work anymore, You should just turn off the spin machine it is out of gas, trying to keep saying that it is a separate game even makes the company look worse.

I know I'm going to hell, but it is not really for this, but this sure helps. :)
I don't care about the game anymore. I just find the forums funny. People same some funny crazy stuff. This is like watching a train wreck. You know you shouldn't but you just can't help it.

well for all who are knocking SoG,I understood it would be unpolished and besides a dnlg.exe error i keep getting ive been in game enough the last 2 hours to reach near level 9 mage. Not saying its great or even good atm but I knew it wouldnt be much to start, much content and game enhancement will be made thorughout SoG is what they stated so I am looking forward to it.
