liking what they show for landmark so far, it is odd that they seem more at ease showing the "companion" game than the actual game.

edit 1: They really seem to be pushing landmark as a stand alone building MMO.

edit 2: wizard portals allow for cross realm travel and cross realm real estate sales (again it can be hard to determine when they are talking about landmark and eqnext...does this apply for both or just one?)

Probably just because Landmark is nearing beta

Or because they are not going to have a good crafting system in EQnext, depends on your cynicism level.

Given that landmark is coming out a decent amount of time before the MMO I think it's going to end up being a testing ground for EQN's concepts.  I wouldn't be surprised at all if we see many of EQN's systems change as a result of how landmark is received.  In a lot of ways that's been how EQN's whole develop cycle has worked so far.  A number of systems have come out of EQN's development into SOE's other games especially EQ2 and PS2 to test the water on how they are received.

This is the company that brought us SWG's crafting and has EQ2, which gives crafters more content than any other MMO.   They also run Vanguard, although they didnt design that system.

Crafting will be prominent in EQN and 95% chance its not a ripoff of WoW/Rift style.

Yea this is also the same company that brought NGE (which blame lucasarts all you want if NGE was as good as they could do to change the system...well at least they have learned that lesson we hope), and wizardry and dragon's prophet, the first of which did not at all live up to the developers talk...at all..in fact if you had listened to the developers talk about wizardry I can not imagine how you could think it would resemble what actually was produced.

I am not trying to be negative here, I like what we have seen, we just have seen so very very little of EQnext that to say one way or the other is just not possible given the glut of information.

And LA should be blamed for NGE, but either way the crafting remained mostly untouched with the NGE.  They also kept VGs crafting intact as well.

Dragon's prophets and Wizardry arent developed by SoE.  DP is the Runes of Magic company, not sure on Wizardry.

These are the SoE MMORPGs: EQ, SWG,  EQ2, DCUO

Also some hybrid games (not true MMORPGs): Planetside 1/2, Free Realms

I agree.  They want a winter release, they have to start beta soon.

The new vids looked like the engine was pretty far along.  Some peeks at the ui and other content in landmark would be appreciated :)

Yea this is what I am afraid of, the idea that NGE left crafting mostly untouched. The mechanics of crafting were less important than the actual use of the crafted product. NGE destroyed that use while leaving a lot of the mechanics in place. If they think like this, that it was just the mechanics that made SWG crafting worthwhile...well...there are some good indy games coming down the line.

edit: Also we learned about a one of the 40 classes "The Adventurer" and a possible fast travel option that may or may not be in EQnext

We also learned that Names and Characters can transfer over from Landmark to EQN, once EQN goes live. This would also have to mean that Names are Unique across all servers; one can jump into Landmark, create a character, and technicaly reserve a name for when EQN goes live. But it's slightly more then that since the "adventurer" class can be worked up and also transferred over. That's pretty nice really.

Pretty much a rehash of the same old stuff..  For crying out loud, they couldn't even have new video and characters?
