How do these accounts connect?

Anyone have multiple SE and character accounts (registered 2 beta keys)?
I'm really confused how the 'SE Global website' and the email addresses associated with it, the SE 'secure' accounts and the registered beta keys under them, and then the character accounts you select from when you're logging into the game (after putting in SE account info in the launcher) match up.
In the beta, I had a choice upon logging in between 'FINAL FANTASY XIV 1' and 'FINAL FANTASY XIV 2'. My main character was under the first. However, upon checking the lodestone for the first as part of the preorder process, it said there were no characters registered under it. Checking the second just gave me an error repeatedly.
So my convoluted account information might (if I have everything straight) look something like this:
Email address I preordered under > SE Global account associated with that email [>] SE account which is apparently totally separate with a different username and email address associated with it > My login information for the actual client which is the same as the SE account info > Both beta key registrations>the second beta key registration with both character accounts attached to it> the first of those character accounts has my actual character (but I can't confirm this due to errors).
My God.
Does this sound about right or am I way off?
The most confusing thing is that my SE secure account under my login information has both 'FINAL FANTASY XIV 1' and 'FINAL FANTASY XIV 2' beta accounts registered, and there are apparently no characters one 1 according to the lodestone, but when I log in to the actual game, 'FINAL FANTASY XIV 1' is the one I select to get to my character. Also, if the second account is where my characters are, it has different username/password than what I used to log into the game....Confusing much?

Pardon my French but I think you may have fucked something up. I would only worry about what it says under the account you log in from FFXIV main website.

When you log in it will show your Nickname that you gave yourself on the top right corner, then go to your profile from there. See if it shows game registration on that.
SE account system can be very confusing, with the 3 different login sites, but you should only have one account.
I did, because I registered 2 beta keys, like I said, and I accidentally made 2 SE Global accounts and 2 SE secure accounts - that was all me - I'm just confused how to find my character now with as much as I fucked it up lol.
I should mention that I do have the game registered under one of those SE Global accounts with my preorder code, just trying to find my character.
Oh man, yeah I don't know, contact support, they may be able to merge them or something.
Yeah, that's the thing, my characters were on account 1 when I logged into the beta, but the lodestone is saying there are no characters on that account when I check it before registering the preorder...
