I own the original collectors edition...

in Final Fantasy XIV

Hope you guys can help me.

I bought FFXIV collectors edition when it first released in 2010. I activated the game and played for only a few days due to it being in an unplayable state and never went back. I was never charged a subscription fee.

I have been playing bits of the realm reborn and love it. My question is, what happens for me on release day? Do I have to buy the game? even though I never payed a subscription, do I have to buy the new version all over again. If not, how do I go about downloading it? I have the beta launcher downloaded already so I don't think I would need to install anything from disc? On my square enix account FFXIV (not ARR) is shown as activated.

Also if I do get it for nothing. Do I also get early access?

    I'm in the same boat.  The way I read it is that we don't have to buy the game again, but we don't get early access. 

     

    I don't know whether beta 4 launcher will update to release or not... probably would be my guess but we'll have to wait until the 27th to see.

    As a CE owner you get access to the game until Sept 9th I believe, free of charge. You don't have to purchase the base game for Realm Reborn. You will also receive the CE items for ARR. You will not receive early access though. You can play on the official release day of Aug 27th through Sept 9th.

     

    Edit: Also, if you have the beta downloaded from Phase 4, just update that. It carries over as the official release download. You won't have to start all over again.

    I haven't played the beta since phase 3. I was away on holiday through phase 4. I tried going on the weekend but I was getting an error and it wouldn't open the launcher. Will this be a problem. I ask because I can't seem to find my game disc. Since a house move, i can't find it. I'm know its somewhere in the house but I could really do without turning the place upside down for Tuesday.

    Like the poster above pointed out you are good. If you have the Phase 3 Client. Uninstall it. It will not work. It will not update to P4/Release client. Have to redownlaod the client. (If you still have the exe from P3 delete that to, get the new one to make sure you are getting P4/Release client.)   If it was the 3102 or 90000 error you were getting. Square claims to have fixed them. And no you won't need your disc.

    Thanks guys! That has cleared things up! I can't wait to play this game looks awesome! All I need to do now is figure what class I wanna play! Was gonna start as black Mage but now I'm thinking maybe start with a more physical character that would be okay for exploring solo so im thinking maybe dragoon? They do look awesome!
