Beginner Questions

MattatronMattatron Member Posts: 226

I pre-ordered this game and have downloaded it, ready to play Saturday morning. I've not played a Final Fantasy game since 1, 2 and 3, decades ago.  I have a few questions before I start, for curiosity's sake.

1. What's the max level of a class? I can't seem to find info, other than job spec reqs 30s and 15s etc.

2. Which race would make a great pugilist?

3. How do I get bag space early? Can I craft bags? Are there micro transactions for bag/bank space?

4. How involved in crafting should I become early on? Is it silly to get level 30 crafter if I'm level 15? Should I skip crafting until I'm done leveling as an adventurer?

Thanks in advance.

    1. What's the max level of a class? 50, but you can transform it into a Job as early as 30. Since a Job is an Equipable Item called a "Soul Stone" for your Class, the Job will always be based on your Class Level.

    2. Which race would make a great pugilist? Doesn't matter, but if minor stats really worry you -- Human Highlander.

    3. How do I get bag space early? Enough to hold you over until level 20 when you unlock Retainers.

Can I craft bags? No, your inventory space is static but always very large. You have a huge inventory for armor and basic items, you'll have a hard time filling it. But when you do, you'll get multiple Retainers to unload items into.

Are there micro transactions for bag/bank space? No. You unlock Retainers via in-game Gil and Story Progression.

    4. How involved in crafting should I become early on? Crafting should only be a main focus once you've reached Max level with your favored classes -- in my opinion.

Is it silly to get level 30 crafter if I'm level 15? No, but you'll have a tough time affording materials. Best to do a bulk load gathering them yourself. It is more realistic to have several gathering classes and several crafting classes into to be fully self-sustaining.

Should I skip crafting until I'm done leveling as an adventurer?  I recommend it because crafting can indeed get expensive. And you will need crafting to repair your adventurer's gear.
