I played in the open beta for a while, it wasn't my thing at all. I had at first wanted to write a big old thread on everything I didn't like about the game. Instead it really dawned on me that this might just not be the game I'm looking for right now. I hope that the crowd it gets ends up enjoying themselves and I hope it finds itself a good spot in the MMO landscape. Good luck to all of you and square enix.

That's sad to hear, you seem more level-headed than most of the people who dislike a game enough to feel that it's worth their time to post about it.
I hope you find the game you're looking for.
James T. Kirk: All she's got isn't good enough! What else ya got?
Yeah they turned the level 15 Archer quest from a suicide solo mission to a simple sneak through kill a few guys then defeat the boss with an NPC but in the ending dialogue they still congratulate you for doing it all on your own lol.
However I believe it was the level 10 Conjurer quest was actually quite hard though it still only took me two tries.
They and probably us are going to need it. Still no news from them about the wrongly assigned early access keys.
As much as I love Square, this is arguably the worst launch I've seen in a good long while.
It's never been such a pain just getting your account setup before.
You say it the worst launch you've ever seen. And it haven't even launched yet.
But that aside, I haven't noticed any pains with the account setup?
Exept the small problem that I didn't get my e-mail until just awhile ago, but when I got it it was just click-copy/paste-click done.
(open site, copy paste the code(one segment a time), complete)
I mentioned a specific issue which they are deciding to ignore, even on the official forums.
They tweeted 2 days ago they'd keep us updated, which they have not.
Considering you need to have early access activated in order to download the client updates from what I've seen.(I had to use another account of mine to do it, since one had a wrong regions EA key given).
I'd say I have valid concerns.
Ah, that's very stupid of me, I missed that part... (How did I not read that?)
Sorry for wasting your time. I did not experience that specific problem, so all I can do is hope that they actually fix it.
If there were more posters like you, we wouldn't have forums to post on, I think
I totally get it. Wanting so hard to like a game, but it not being meant to be.
What I don't get is when someone picks up a game with their minds already made up about the game. Or "knowing" exactly what their experience is going to be like. They know they hate old school feature X, and still they press on. Giving them an excuse to ditch the game after 30 minutes (no joke) of gameplay and making a big old thread about their terrible terrible time in the game.
It'll never stop from happening. It keeps the forums afloat and the mods busy
All good, tensions are pretty high for everyone I think :P
Anyhow, I'm probably just going to cancel one of my three preorders and reorder one in order to get another preorder(and thus early access code), since I've tried getting thru to support and that doesn't seem to be working out.
Tried it, still not working for me at least, likely works for some like all the other workarounds.
Well thank you sir, and good luck in finding yourself a good game as well! Damn, these forums need more of you.
Never fear, your dream MMO will be here....
just give me a decade or two to finely hone my Game development
and design abilities as well as start a Game Design Studio.
Thank you for your patience.
Hope you find the game for you.
I had kinda felt the same way about FFXIV, but at the same time I just need something new to play for a while. So I thought, what the hell.
It's good to see there are still people on this site that are okay with not liking every game that's in the spotlight. We definitely need more people with that mindset here. Far too many hate & flame threads floating around, and equally toxic false information ones.
Yeah they made some bizarre difficulty changes.
One of the CNJ quests was more difficult than I remember from phase 3 (for the stupid reason that they spawn you right next to the boss mob who spawns more adds the more you attack him, so if you don't think to give yourself some distance before engaging, you get steamrolled). I think that was the level 10 one?
One of the story quests was a bit tougher than I remember too - [spoilers] the one where you defend the egg with the help of the moogle from the gang of bandits.
Then the level 15 story quest, which everyone was having trouble with in phase 3, myself included even at level 16, was now a walk in the park at 15 lol. I guess that one could have used a bit of a nerf, though it's a tad too easy now.
I agree about the difficulty. The only one I had trouble with in Phase3 was the Gargoyle and Mage. Took me 9 tries. I used antidote and my sprint effectively finally and got it done. In Open Beta I stood in one spot and beat up the Gargoyle.
It's actually kind of strange on it's face I'd say that FFXIV boasts an absolutely marvelous set of features at least in my eyes. There were definetely some things I didn't like though I think at higher levels would have been fine such as combat and how it felt so zergish. I think overall it just didn't grab me but I have been like in search of a game that does grab me for a couple years. I think I just have a lot less time the older I get and my patience with games isn't what it used to be. However instead of complaining about the game, I really thought about the game over a couple days after the open beta and thought to myself it's actually a really well done solid game from what I saw, it just might not be the game for me, at least right now.
As long as FFXIV gives enough people a home they're happy playing in it's kind of lame for me to pick it apart thinking it has to be a certain way just for me. I will say this A Realm Reborn is a whole lot better than FFXIV 1.0.
