can't download (i must be doing somthing wrong)

ok, so I got my email for early access.
Placed my code in.
I'm taken to the "download" page. I click the download button. It installs an icon on my desktop. I double click the icon. I get to a point that says "currently possess a Square Enix account" or "I do not possess a Squire Enix account".
I already have a Square Enix account. I needed to create on because I bought the game through them. I also did my registrations and stuff. So, I select "currently possess a Square Enix account".
The next page asks me to log in, so I place my login and password, then I get...
ID OR PASSWORD IS INCORRECT
I go to the Squire Enix webpage and login. Everything works good. I'm not sure why I can't log in from the launcher.
Unless i'm doing something wrong in the download. But I think i'm following instructions. So, I've got no major download going. I just have the launcher downloaded....that's it.
anyone have any ideas?
(FYI: the download took about 1 minute. That gave me the icon on my desktop. Then I double click that icon to log in when get the error message)

Have you entered in your pre-order code (18 digits) and gotten an early access code (20 digits)? If you have gotten this, have you gone here http://preorder.na.finalfantasyxiv.com/us or the eu version of this site and registered your pre-order code? If everything goes right you should have gotten this screen when you launched the client.

I need a "one time" password?
I never heard that we need the mobile device to log in...anyone know if this is correct?
This won't work, for the One Time Password to work you need to either have a physical token or either a Final Fantasy 14 or Final Fantasy 11 retail code registered in your account management page.

No, he is wrong. All you need to login is your login account name and password and leave the One Time password field blank.

Nah the problem is probably that you are using your email as login in the launcher which somehow does not work.
If you log into your account mannagement you can see you squareenix login name try that instead and it will work
Well atleast that did the trick for me.
So basically, register the RETAIL pre-order code to get a GAME pre-order code. Then register the game pre-order code. If that doesn't work, then setup the ONE TIME password.
I never needed a one-time password and I'm downloaded and ready to play.
WhiteCross, make sure you are leaving the one-time password box blank when you log in with you SE account username and password. Note its your username not your email address.
He cannot setup an one time password with out a retail final fantasy 11 or a final fantasy 14 service account or a physical token key. Either way you don't need an one time password to get things working. The one time password is only required if you have it enabled in your account, but since you don't know about it, you don't have to worry about it. Just follow the instructions I gave you on top.

I was trying to log in with my email address. I had no idea I needed to use my username.
