I will be starting over, enjoying the game from the beginning. I played on an EU legacy server in 1.0. Not sure which server I want yet but will definitely be NA non legacy.
Started on Lamia in beta 4, even though it is an NA server and I'm an Euro, and I guess I will stick with it for now. That being said, it may be one of the lower-populated servers (not surprising considering it has been added very late in b4 and all the big pre-release guilds and communities seem to have chosen other servers already). We will see. Low-population servers have their charm too - people often know each other better since they bump into each other more often.
Started on Malboro P3 and did it again P4, but considering switching to Leviathan. Nonlegacy here, though did have 1.0 I never paid a month lol. Starting a new account entirely for full early access, and gave my 1.0 to my friend to play in the meantime.
I played on two non-legacy servers and one Legacy Server.
If you want a good community, I'd suggest the latter from experience. I saw naught but arguments and bad manners on non-legacy servers, whereas on the Limsa Side of things on a Legacy I must've had about 5 people asking politely if I wanted to group... in addition to questions being asked and politely answered in general chat with constant "please" and "thank yous."
It really got me involved in enough to dedicate most of my time playing just to answering people's questions myself. There was only one bad name that I saw as well, and that was "Darth Vadar"; though that guy was pretty cool and I didn't see anyone publicly give him a hard time for it.
I would mention the Server I was playing on, but it was locked for new players all weekend due to being full and I still have friends trying to get in. :P
Due to frequent travel in my youth, English isn't something I consider my primary language (and thus I obtained quirky ways of writing). German and French were always easier for me despite my family being U.S. citizens for over a century. Spanish I learned as a requirement in school, Japanese and Korean I acquired for my youthful desire of anime and gaming (and also work now). I only debate in English to help me work with it (and limit things). In addition, I'm not smart enough to remain fluent in everything and typically need exposure to get in the groove of things again if I haven't heard it in a while. If you understand Mandarin, I know a little, but it has actually been a challenge and could use some help.
Also, I thoroughly enjoy debates and have accounts on over a dozen sites for this. If you wish to engage in such, please put effort in a post and provide sources -- I will then do the same with what I already wrote (if I didn't) as well as with my responses to your own. Expanding my information on a subject makes my stance either change or strengthen the next time I speak of it or write a thesis. Allow me to thank you sincerely for your time.
is it possible for a non legacy player (i.e. new player) to join a legacy server?
IMPORTANT: Please keep all replies to my posts about GAMING. Please no negative or backhanded comments directed at me personally. If you are going to post a reply that includes how you feel about me, please don't bother replying & just ignore my post instead. I'm on this forum to talk about GAMING. Thank you.
Exodus is where me and my neighbor are at. We were gonna try and get on Leviathan but when we registered during phase 4 beta it happened to be during the time they were forcing people onto Exodus. So it looks like that's our new home!
Originally posted by hotdove911 I'm on Gilgamesh! Its the main server for French Canadian, so I joined up even tho I don't know anyone there yet.
I'm on Gilgamesh too and it appears to be the main server for everything lol. Big raiding guilds, the Reddit community, supposedly the RP community (though I see so many 4th wall-breaking names, and why not, the FF character Gilgamesh was the biggest 4th wall breaker of all)...
Gilgamesh is a good choice if you want the /shout chat in any zone you enter to be lively and hilarious. Most people have a sense of humor. Best server imo.
Goblin... because goblins are awesome in general, and the goblins in FF11 (and FF14 in part) were cool in their own way.
This is true - I've wanted them as a playable race since back in XI...
That and apparently gilgamesh has suddenly become popular... no clue WHY it wasn't cool before but somehow everyone made it cool to all join it on me.
Suddenly? Several large internet/forum communities announced plans to joined Gilgamesh before p4 started, there were phase 3 server pop stats that showed Gilgamesh as the most populous server, and it was among the first to fill to capacity in p4. What do you mean? lol
I was thinking legacy servers would be the best servers if you want a server with guaranteed population a few months/years down the road when subs decline. IF those guys stuck with 1.0 for however long...they certainly will be sticking around long term in ARR.
Hey man, Midgardsomr is my server of choice if it's any help. There's always a shit ton of people wherever you go, it's not legacy (I am legacy but I deleted my old character, I prefer to start fresh. IMO this is an entirely new game, would feel like I was cheating if I used my old character... not to mention it wouldn't be any fun! lol. anyways.) So yeah midgardians are the shit, I'm 22, and play medium-core, digging it so far!! But yeah do whatever floats your boat! I'll be around if you need help

Hyperion (Legacy) = High EPEEN server.
Sargatanas (Legacy) = EPEEN server. (I play there, yay!)
Then there is everything else!
Good thing about Legacy? Cheap starter gear, lots of high levels means easier time leveling in low level zones.
Good thing about Non-Legacy? Lots of people in low levels zone and people are evenly matched for the most part. May take longer to level though.

I am interested in the answer to this question myself.
Yes.

I have honestly no idea. I played just in a random eu server during phase4, and since progress is saved, I suppose I will continue there.
Dunno where to check where the hell my character is either XD (until tomorrow of course).
So I know I am either on Cerberus, Moogle, Odin, Phoenix or Shiva:/.
