If you are returning or just starting this weekend, you can catch up on events here: wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Living_World_summary

If you need an event guide for the current living story installment, you can use dulfy here:

    http://dulfy.net/2013/08/21/gw2-clockwork-chaos-patch-coverage-guide/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=gw2-clockwork-chaos-patch-coverage-guide

If you want to just roam the world and see what events are up at any time, just use this site:

    http://us.gw2stuff.com/

If you need a group for anything (including dungeons), try joining a guild or using www.gw2lfg.com

Keep in mind: A new event is either less than 7 days away or has just happened in the last 7 days. So keep checking back.

"As you read these words, a release is seven days or less away or has just happened within the last seven days— those are now the only two states you’ll find the world of Tyria."...Guild Wars 2

From someone who feels the game is highly over-rated and one of the weaker AAA titles in years (not SWTOR weak) and my personal biggest disappointment since Vanguard (granted I'll admit I never hype for games either and wasn't for GW2 either so the standards are low to make that mark).

Try it and play it if you haven't. The beauty and one of the perhaps 'good' parts of GW2 is you can quickly tell 2-3 hours in if you like it or not, since its pretty much virtually the same thing all through out with just small things thrown in here and there. You might end up liking it, or you might be like me and be utterly disappointed with it. No sense not trying when you have a chance to do so. :)

Zerging generally suck, yes. I had a few fun moments, like when 4 times as many enemies breached the walls of stonemist castle and we were able to drive them back but zerging generally are pretty boring.

I either sneak behind enemy lines alone to take out dollys, sentrys and if I can, badly defended supply  camps.

Otherwise I play in smaller squads (4-8 players) who takes camps and sometimes badly defended towers. At times we claim a tower and work to build it up and defend it.

I don't think that my server would have left you there even with the zergers, we usually help eachother out and I think the other high ranking servers do the same but servers lower down tend to have problems working together, or so have I heard.

    My advice?

    make a Norn.

    now: GW2 (11 80s).
    Dark Souls 2.
    future: Mount&Blade 2 BannerLord.
    "Bro, do your even fractal?"
Recommends: Guild Wars 2, Dark Souls, Mount&Blade: Warband, Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning.

I've seen tons of small organized squads get wiped out by zergs, but I've never seen a small organized squad wipe out a zerg.

I notice the Heroic pack is the same price as the base pack, just with added freebies. Nice touch. If anyone's curious about this game this is a great chance to try it out. It's one of if not the best MMO out there, so enjoy a free weekend and hope to see you after!

I totally agree! You can not beat the price either. GW2 additions and awards/accolades.

I'm sure there will be a large portion of free partakers this weekend, and many will come here trashing the game. I think us fans should be ready for it. Usually a title that offers free weekends or passes for the first time has a gross of bad reviews. Possibly because if they thought they would like it they would have bought it months ago! Human nature seems to always bring out the negative players when it comes to posting, rather than the folks who enjoy something.

Does anyone know how to get a free trial serial for this weekend when you already have an account registered from Guild Wars 1?  When I try to register for the free weekend it says I already have an account tied to my email address which I do but can't figure out how to get the trial without creating a new email address so I can then create a new account.

    I hope that makes sense.

I may play GW2 again if they pay me to.  Since that's unlikely, how can I sell my account?

You haven't played with the newer arrow carts - 2 to 3 of those and there is no zerg.

I would have probably given this a try if I'd have found it Thursday or so....Saturday night is a little late to get it downloaded and play.
