Are they specific to race or do you get to choose where you start?

    They are specific to job. ACN and MRD are Limsa Lominsa. ARC, LNC, and CNJ are Gridania. PUG, GLA, and THM are Ul'dah.

    Any graphical, audio, or gameplay restrictions not seen in other mmos but found in FFXIV can be blamed on one thing.

    Your starting location is based on class as the classes have  thier guilds in different cities.  Maurader/arcanist in Limsa lominsa, archer/lancer/conjourer in Gridania and  pugilist/thumathurge/gladiator in Ul'dah.

    The level 15 main storyline will give you airship access, thats when you can go to other cities.

    Lvl 15 is when you're done with the tutorial and get to go to other places. Unless you walk.

    Actually tutorial is over by level 1. Walking only works for Gridania to Uldah and vice versa if you dont mind traversing lvl 50 zones

    Organizing the starting locs/cities by class instead of by race or something else is a little odd, IMO.

    Premium MMORPGs do not feature built-in cheating via cash for gold pay 2 win. PLAY to win or don't play.
