Hi,
i'm having a serious problem,
Whenever i go near the Gridania Inn, i have a 50% chance that my computer crashes... My moniter goes black (as it had no input), pc is still running but no reaction at all. The only thing i can do is to force my pc to reboot.
Someone got any ideas why that is happening to me?
Server: Shiva
Graphic Setting: Tryed all from very high, high, medium, low and very low. Still happens.
Here are my pc details:
HDD: Western Digital WD5001AALS 500 GB -> x2, Raid0
GPU: ATI Radeon HD5000 XFX HD5870 XXX -> Test the most recent Driver and also most recent Beta Driver (currently beta)
CPU: AMD Phenom II X4 965
Mainboard: ASRock 890GX Extreme3
RAM: Corsair DIMM 8 GB DDR3-1333 Quad-Kit
Sound: CREATIVE Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme (X-Fi Xtreme Gamer Fatal1ty Professional Series)
OS: Windows 7 Home Premium - 64Bit

There's not much we can do for you if you've tried the new drivers. I could guess the problem, but you may have to contact SE support when they aren't swamped.
Is it only in gridania, have you tried other cities?
If I were to guess I'd say it's definitely something wrong with the GPU side of things, but the only time I've experienced the screen going black but pc still working was when mine was dying.
Sounds like a heat related issue. Try opening the case and pointing a small fan inside to cool things off, they try to repeat the crash by going into the city. If that's not the case then it could be your monitor is not set at the proper refresh rate...dunno

well the weird thing is, i can play the whole game for hours without problems, my issue just happens in gridania....
So a Hardware problem should be visible everywhere right? Not just in gridania
Not necessarily, when you load into a heavily compacted environment like a city where a lot more players, objects and effects are being rendered at closer distances, your gpu can become taxed quickly. More calculations produce more processing which in turn generates more heat in a shorter amount of time than say, out in the open plains.

Game irrelevant.
GPU crashes. GPU does not understand it has crashed(Major booboo, GPU is on last legs). GPU does not reload drivers or functionality( as stated in first post, this is evidenced by windows telling you it has in lower right of screen, by time clock.)
GPU is kill.
Replace.
other scenario:
GPU crashes. Black screen, flickers back on. Windows informs graphics 'driver'(windows only gets drivers, doesnt have little repairman in there to tell you hardware is kill) has killed and been restarted. GPU is good, understands it killed. Here we check for driver update. Driver update no fix, we jump back one driver version(usually not needed unless just installed new version). Still no fix we look into RAM. Buggy GPU/RAM gives false information to hardware, hardware no compute, crashes. Maybe time to replace. Check CPU/Cooling/doawholebunchofothershit. Maybe find problem, maybe not.
But.
GPU is kill. Doesn't know is Kill.
Bad GPU.
Replace.

thanks for ur help.
really appreciate it.
However, Uldah seems to have way more persons, and there i got no problems.
When u are right, and it's my GPU, is there anything i can do, to solve the problem? Due to the game costs i can't effort a new GPU anytime soon... probably not even this year.
Not really man. Stay away from gridania! lol kidding. I dunno, when i run across something like this, i replace immediately, else i risk losing something more important than gaming im working on, which would be terribly bad terrible.
