Help Me!!!

Ok, so heres how it goes.

(Thanks to you people who can actually be arsed to read all this image)

I played SWG for bout 6 months then quit, i found after the combat upgrade there was simply no-one playing, the grinding was soooo boring and lag was still an issue, so i quit.

Next I got GW which became old and boring very quick for me, i wanted more of a FPS MMORPG, I did consider Planetside but decided to go for WoW, after seeing at the time it was the highest rated MMORPG on mmorpg.com, but now the craving are back for the FPS MMORPG, WoW simply doesnt do it for me, and i do like to spend my small amount of money wisely.

Please, I dont want any of ths fanboi bullshit or people which are set out just to see Neocron 2 crash and burn, it just confuses the hell out of me. Is Neocron 2 really worth getting - is it the buggy hell hole which people make it out to be, or the really fun PvP game which people enjoy and get there moneys worth out of it? Or should I just go for Plant side???

HELP ME!

(I would appeciate if the people only post who have recently actually played Neocron 2 & Plantside, not just stuff they've heard from other people, ( and i cannot download trial due to bandwidth limitations)).

Thanks image

Make no mistake, Neocron has bugs, some of which that have been around 3 years (since launch)

Its FPS combat alright, but heres the kicker (for me anyway) other than zone restrictions if you can or cant PvP (and associated perks/penalties for killing enemies, neutrals or allies in those zones) its unrestricted PvP - so the guy who's been playing for years and has maxed his character out stat and equipment wise can just walk up to you and hand you your ass (_IF_ you take the LE chip out). In my experience bored high level players will often gank a lowbie on the pretext of it either being a new alt of a high level character (which the comes looking for revenge) or to provoke a response from guildmates - the upshot of which is that people play this game solely to PvP, if they cant find any PvP they will try and manufacture some......

If you leave the LE chip in you wont be able to form/join a clan (guild) and wont be able to finish 99% of the epic runs (faction story mission) because almost all of them involve PvP

Depending on who you ask and what class you play PvP is/isnt balanced. Can't comment further as PvP [in Neocron] isnt my thing

Joining now is as good a time as any as 2.1 has just launched and the populations are up on what they usually are due to old accounts getting some free time to check it out - be aware though this is a niche game so server pops are never going to be comparable to a more mainstream title

Graphics just got improved but if youre coming from SWG you are probably going to be disapointed/shocked.

The games has a great atmosphere though (unfortunately I'm not talking about the community, just the atmosphere the zones creates) but I found it sadly lacking in RP or story (the story just didnt happen)

Personally I find PvP in Planetside more to my taste (its fairer in that they arent any 'levels' as such) but wouldn't pay a monthly sub for PS (but having moved to Station Access this is no longer an issue). Planetside is pure PvP though, there is more to Neocron than PvP [although most of the players dont seem to know this] as long as your self motiviated - lots of things to explore for example

My problem with the combat in Neocron was that it wasn't really 'proper' FPS combat; by this I mean that you do indeed aim yourself but accuracy, damage etc is is all done on dice rolls. This kind of 'Morrowind' system rather spoiled PvP for me, however if you like that kind of thing then it's worth playing. As far as Planetside is concerned the PvP is very good however the lack of any real RPG element made me feel it wasn't worth paying a subscription for (same with WW2 Online which I really enjoyed).

I capped 12 characters........there are always still enough dice rolls to irritate. I also hated how they allowed resists to make far too much of a difference. The skill in Neocron applies rather more in setting up your character than in the FPS aspect.

I personally feel that they should just scrap the levelling of combat skills entirely, focus all players on the PvP which is the fun bit and focus on making the storyline....well.....exist.
