I don't get it either. For a company this size and this not being their first launch? It's poor planning and people just not giving a rat's ass.

This is the same company that considers Tomb Raider a failure because it only sold 5 million copies in the first few months of release. When they poured far too many resources into it....And expected it to sell something like 10 million copies to get their value refund. They're idiots apparently, not able to do proper resource allocation...It wouldn't surprise me if they cut corners in the servers they chose, the ISP supporting their NA servers, and they're likely not releasing info updates on the NA side. I've also heard they're quite biased towards their home region....But that may be heresay...

As far as early access goes, i can confidently say, its one of the worse in mmo history. Sorry, great game, but my god, what an awful, horrible, early access it has been.

No, you're absolutely correct in that they are. As I pointed out earlier. Just look at how many serversare dedicated to their one country compared to the rest of the world. To top it off they didn't sell half as many pre-orders in Japan as they did in the states. But they don't give a crap, they take care of their own first. Their servers have a bigger bandwidth and dedicated hosting, while the NA and EU servers are in Canada and hosted by a third party company that keeps screwing up and pays for less bandwidth. Thus why the Japanese servers are filling up with NA players, they're just more stable.

As a Canadian I feel sorry for all of you, we have terrible infrastructure and ISPs, and our bandwidth capabilities are horrid. Not to mention a lot of our data centers and P.O.Ps tend to drop packets, thanks to our internet overlords Rogers and Bell whom hold a ?dualopoly? on our infrastructure network.

As a fellow Canadian (who worked at a call center for comcast) let me inform you Rogers and Bell are nothing compared to Comcast and Time Warner. Many Americans have worse ISPs than Canadians.

That's hard to believe, for me at least. I live in Southern Ontario, and they don't bother implementing infrastructure here in the form of DSL or cable XD We have to either use dial-up or Wireless Internet Service Providers.....Though that's infrastructure, which is terrible. But you're right, Comcast, Time Warner, and AT&T are terrible ISPs in the States.

There is a queue system but it's turned off as of right now so as to allow them to test stability of the servers without the extra load. I personally have been playing on a jp server this whole time but I really feel for those trying to do na servers. All I can say is it's better for it to happen now than launch and yes I know that's cold comfort right this second.
Phoenix had absolutely zero login issues today for anyone as far as I could tell. Even at peak time I was in the game straight away with no issues... as were all my friends.
I think this really depends on whether you rolled on a high pop server. Not that I'm excusing anything.
If you haven't played much at all yet I would strongly advise rolling on a Japanese server for now and transferring back to the NA/EU servers when things have settled down.
To further add to the problem I don't think they have any sort of idle auto-kick either. I went to make some food ended up watching a tv show came back and my character was standing in the same spot for an hour. Now all I get is the 1017 error world full.

I would kill for multiple zone instances. When you do get in, it's like a zoo. There's no immersion right now just a swarm of people slaughtering everything in site.
Well I have been waiting to play this and it happens to go "live" on my birthday and I can not even log in the same 1017 server full for me as well, sat there trying to log in for 45 min straight and it just would not give me the go ahead to log in.
Very disappointing that they did (imo) so well on this re-construct of this game and what seems to be quite a few NA and possibly EU players can not play due to not being able to log in over the server being full, how much money did they spend on the redo of this game just to turn around and drop the ball on something like that... seems pretty thoughtless.
I honestly wish that all of us would unite and log off the NA servers and flood the Japanese ones maybe if they have a problem SE will do something about it.

its not a piece of trash is a simple case of not enough servers
There is no queue right now. You either get in or you don't. Period. You need to stare at the log-in menu/character list while slamming the 0 key on your number pad to maybe get in.
By far the worst MMO launch in recent memory, and probably the worst one I've ever been in since Lineage I.
theres a q i seen in twice today but witht hem throttlign the logins to the server the q doesnt really work atm ( id otn understand why they just dont have a big q that lets people in as room opens up

I'm fascinated with the people continuing to post "there is no queue" despite the numerous times the queue system has been explained. It's like trying to explain to someone with their eyes shut that yes, the sun does exist.
How do you design a MMORPG without a Queue system? They seriously expect people to sit there and log on and off trying to get on their server for hours at a time?
This basically makes it impossible to play with friends and guild. As a NA player, I am stuck screwing around on a EU server.
I haven't seen a launch this bad in a very long time.. Most launches have their performance issues, but this launch basically doesn't allow you to play at all. Square Enix must be a bunch of noob's at this.
Well I doubt there will be as much of a need for a que moving forward and as the game ages. It's launch day and its like a new shiney toy so give it time. Not that much of an epic fail to me.
They are having serious issues no doubt... but I will tell you all this; after playing the game over the past 4 days.. it's worth the wait. I would like to get angry and throw a tantrum, but it's so good I can't haha.
I laugh at these threads saying it is fail for this or fail for that, here is a thought for the OP it cannot be that much of a fail if the Servers are FULL, take it as a good thing, so it sucks you cannot get on and play but all launches have issues one way or another, obviously if the servers are full then the game has a very healthy amount of people playing, this is a blessing in my mind, be greatfull they are FULL and not struggling with people wanting to play.

I don't know how to say this, but since I've clearly been ignored half a dozen times, we'll try brute force:
There is a queue system, it's just really small (~500). We
don't know why it's really small, but it's probably going to
stay that way until they upgrade their data centers over the
next week.
