I'm a warrior now, so now what? guildies blowing me away

time007time007 Member UncommonPosts: 1,062

hey guys, I hit level 30, got my glad. to 15, and got the warrior gem.  I was so happy then I looked at my FC and all 20 or so Japanese people were 35-45 haha.  So I know its not a race, but what should I be doing now to get levels faster?

grinding? dungeons? questing?

I dunno how these guys got here this fast.  The story mode isn't giving that much exp so its not the driving factor for exp after 30 right?  Just kinda lost.  I don't mind the feeling, and that's fine, I just wanna figure out what other people that got their job sorted, are doing to get to the level cap? (again I know its not a race, but just wanna be productive)

If I had my way Id do group grinding with my guild but they can't speak English and are off doing who knows what haha.  should I bother group grinding at this level? is that my bread and butter?

so basically, whats my bread and butter now?

EDIT: and what form of exp'ing should I stay away from? (as in its slow and a waste of time)

Its sad all you seem to care about is what level you are. aside from the server issues in my eyes the game is the best thing i have played in quite some time.  Enjoy it, slow down.  But to answer your question from what ive done in game fates are really fast leveling.  Second make sure your hunters logs are all up to date and dont forget about the leves, they are a nice exp option as well.

I'd say do a lot of Levemete, guildmete, duties, Grand Company's duties, unlock a higher rank in your grand company to keep up with your gear.

Honestly Levemete, duties and etc is really what keeps me going, I don't care about level much, all I want is more GC tickets!! moar ticketss higher ranks!!! yushh!! Not to mention the Hunting list, God! it so fun hunting all these monsters for EXP/GC tickets.

yeah but my guildies are saying that GC will determine what pvp faction you are, so when pvp comes, if you leveled up your rank in one GC, but you end up wanting to join a different one for pvp, then you gotta start all over.  How do you start over and change grand companies?

It's not a level race, but it is a level race ?
  • sudosudo Member UncommonPosts: 697

They are grinding up levels together and you are left to do it alone. From early patches of 1.0, group exping (just like in FFXI) is the fastes way to level up.

How about finding a guild that actually cares about you / wants to do stuff with you?

What do you plan to do when you reach level 50 if your guild doesn't want to group with you anyway?

...Content is still content even though it's not max level. Sit back and enjoy the game, revel in the quests and storyline...If you blast off to lvl 50 and ignore all the content then it's only your fault when you sit there and whine for weeks about a lack of endgame. I say try and do a bit of everything, rather than rushing to the end and treating every experience that isn't optimal as a waste or disposable. You still paid for that content, and it wasn't easy or cheap to make, it took time...It's art....Might as well enjoy it.

Let me make sure I understand this... I am guessing you got tired of 1017 on the NA/EU servers and rolled on a JP server. Instead of looking for a guild that speaks english on the JP server, you joined a guild made up exclusively of people who you do not have a language in common with and who you can't play with because you can't talk to them.

So you are in a guild in which you will never socialize, never develop relationships or make friends, and never play with people? I can understand the frustration of 1017 and rolling on a JP server, but from what you are describing I think your problem is your choice of free company. Either wait for server transfers and hope you can transfer to an NA/EU server, or else look for a FC with a significant number of english speakers.

The choices you have made don't make sense to me.

    <<Auto-Translation Dictionary>> <<Just used it.>> <<Thank You.>>

It's a bit awkward, but it works pretty well for basic stuff. Like
    <<Looking For Party>> <<FATE>> L10-15 <<Western La Noscea>>
    <<Looking for Members>> <<Dungeon>> <<Satasha>>

I'm assuming this auto-translation dictionary you are using is not in-game... So you are advising that he go to and outside service, translate what he wants to ask... Ask it, and then copy/paste(if you can even copy from the chat in game) any potential replies back into the translator to try and understand what they are saying?

And you somehow feel that this replaces actual social interaction?

This reminds me of that scene at the end of Terminal Velocity where Charlie Sheen's character receives the medal in Russia...

Start typing a message, and hit Tab ... it brings up the AutoTranslate options.

There are hundreds of pre-built translated phrases....

Square rebuilds the entire world of Eorzea and people still rushing through it all just to get to the level cap. And rolling on a JP server..worst decision ever even with the translators.

Same here, due the server issues and restart, errors and locks... My wife and I we had to make our characters in Kujata JP server, yet we still didn't join any guild and now we have to wait until end of Sep for world transfer (I don't feel like loosing my progression and start again, love my character), beside have to pay for it >_< (I was hoping for a free world transfer due the issues).

But anyway, we have fun and really don't feel like rushing for leveling, this is one game that make you play and enjoy many things without caring for leveling fast. :)

Ok... and does it translate back for you so that you understand what they reply?

If I ask "Can I join your group?" And they answer something like "We will have a spot open in 5 minutes. We will invite you then" will I actually be able to understand them or will I be sitting there staring at a bunch of characters that mean nothing to me until I decide that the invite isn't coming and go do something else?

I know a lot of people abused Fate alliances.

Make a big group then chain complete Fates in the area.

Someone in my FC has been pretty much doing nothing but Fates(still hasnt unlocked the 4th dungeon in the story) and is currently level 46.

Yeah my buddy isn't 46 but he's been dong nothing but fates and he's way ahead of me. It seems like a really fast way to level in this game.

    You are a warrior.

You'd probably blow them away if you did dungeons.
