UMM Is the server down?

Okay I am really getting pissed here. The launcher says the server's up, I login and then I get a message the game serveris down. Is it down, what the fuck?

Yeah, I've seen this message all day, I started trying at 1:30 AM EST, no luck, went to bed, got up and have been trying about every 30 minutes since 9 AM, no luck.
This really doesn't give a good impression of the game or company, especially since they shut their forums down and don't have any way to communicate with us. I realize this is a free trial, but so far its done nothing to convince me to give Farlan any of my money. And the old "its the first day, all mmogs have issues on the first day" argument is so tired...these guys knew EXCATLY how many people were coming, and still are unable to do what they promised.
Why can't more small companies like this demonstrate some basic competence? This company has been developing this game for almost this entire decade, and yet can't solve issues like login server crashing? I really want a small company to do well, to hit the proverbial home run, but sadly this seems more like a Horizons or Mourning-type disaster, all hype and no real substance. 50K concurrent users in April? LOL.
I will give them props at least for letting us try it before plunking down some $$ on this mess.

The problem is that there's no info or news on the website...basically the only option is to sit and wait until they get they're house in order. I really want this game to fly, but it seems that when the going gets tough, the servers shutdown.
FYI the servers being down has nothing to do with NP3 or Farlan's level of competence or lack there of. It states on their website (in a part that is still accessible) that settlers will only be able to play SOG from 1pm GMT/UTC to 6am Tuesday GMT. They did actually leave the servers up later than promised last night so that the 10k free accounts could get access and have a couple hours to get oriented b4 they took them down again.
I agree that this info should be on the front page as this is the first week of SOG and their forums are down, but no such luck. Also idk wtf the deal is with the launcher saying the game server is up when it is not, they should at least change it to down so people don't think they aren't able to log in due to yet another bug or corrupt code in the data. Just thought I would save everyone's sanity, and let them know wtf is going on so that you don't waste the next 2 days sitting at your pc and trying to log in (and possibly breaking a mouse or keyboard like I tend to do when mad).
Wrong. This week the server was supposed to be up all days. This was in the forums - yep. the ones that are down.
Edit: In IRC the "hot" news is the following:
"Latest No word yet from NP3 on the servers, you'll be updated when we get any news"

That's not what they said in IRC. They had no intention of taking the servers down until the beginning of next weeks cycle. The server crashed. Plain and Simple.
