Progressive Server Structure pls

ArclanArclan Member UncommonPosts: 1,550

50,000 posts in this forum. Not bad. People are curious.

Now that we know what EQN will *not* be, can SOE please revisit progression servers. And rather than making them a short-term gimmick, make a permanent progressive server structure. Think I'll post on the SOE forums too.

Luckily, i don't need you to like me to enjoy video games. -nariusseldon.
In F2P I think it's more a case of the game's trying to play the player's. -laserit

I have never played on the progressive servers so please excuse any mistakes I make but aren't the progressive servers story driven?  If so then you may need to catch up on everything EverQuest Next. From what has been released thus far the whole concept sounds very much progression based.  Or are you looking to get EQ1 and EQ2 progression servers revamped or made?  For EQ1 and EQ2 you are in the wrong forum.

Seems that EQN is a progression based game.  Rallying calls will change the world depending upon the outcome.  Lets say they give choices for the outcome ... each server might be a bit different.

For EQ1 progression servers, there had to be progression in place before the server could launch.  These were very specific actions and events to complete a structured progression.  EQN strives to be dynamic, a bit different than EQ1.  I am not sure we will see the same kind of server in the future.

I loved the Progression of EQ 1, and old-school WoW(sort of).

Everquest  access to Plane of Time was months long of progression which allowed a guild to grow and get ready for Plane of Time. It was beautiful and I loved how I eventually had to kill the bosses of the Planes (Fire, Wind, Earth and Water) to get keyed after getting keyed/attuned to go into those zones. It took many months but was well worth it. I hope they have something like this.

I too am not understand what you are asking for, Progression servers might not fit into the EQ:N design scheme, unless they release expansion like content.

I mean some of the content looks to be progression based by its nature such as rally calls, and my hope is there is enough sandbox in the rest of the world to make progression servers moot.

or did you mean go back and do it again for EQ1 or 2?

The progression servers of eq1 lock all expansion content for allot time and it slowly unlocks. that really wouldn't work in a brand new game. where each server is going to progress is its own way. If your interested in that sort of thing The rally calls are events that cant make Permanent change to the servers  depending on how the player base reacts to them.

Are you asking them to revisit the progression servers for EQ?  If so, what exactly would you like to see as far as a permanent progressive server structure?  Also, did you intentionally put it in the EQ Next forum, and if so, why?

Yes because EQN is current "Everquest" news, and everyone knows a lot of fans of the IP aren't keen on EQN. To answer your question about what exactly I would like to see; a lot of this has been discussed on numerous forums. I personally would like a server structure broken out by max level. One server that is classic EQ + planes; another server which is up-to-Luclin, another which is up-to-Gates Of Discord., etc. Give players free transfers up the chain.

I will of course try EQN. But remain pessimistic for reasons stated ad infinitum elsewhere on this forum.

The entire purpose of progression servers in EQ was to satisfy people were unhappy with the current state of the game and wanted to go back to the time before certain expansions. Every server in EQN is going to be a vanilla server at launch. Are you saying they should have servers in EQN that do not receive content updates?
