Hey just wondering why half the game is Arcanists, At least on my server , about 7/10ths of everyone i see is an Arcanist, so i figured i'd see whats up with that, cheers!
Im still on the begining part but I thought the same thing till I noticed Each starter town gets two classes. We are with Berserkers I think. I think the pug and Gladiator are the more popular melee. Thats why not to many Berserkers.
I realy need to learn the abreviations for the Classes.
On Cerberus it seems fairly balanced. Can't say I've seen an overwhelming amount of one class. May be a little light on conjurers as there is always queues for instances (as per every trinity game in existence probably).
Only time I saw an overwhelming amount of arcanists was at levels 1-5 outside the arcanist's guild.
1) Only 2 classes in Limsa. 2) Only class with 2 jobs so far (levels both jobs simultaneously). Eachs with different roles. 2.5)Can be Summoner to summon mini-eons, eidolons, espers, guardian force, or as theyre called in FFXIV ... primals. 3) Carbuncle (hes so "chibi" and "kawaii") 4) Only new class for 1.0 players they havent tried yet.
Like others have said it is the new class. If you are in a Legacy server then it will be even more lopsided. Those of us that played 1.0 (especially during patch 1.18-1.19) took the huge advantage of leveling all of our DOM and DOW classes to 50 in under 2-3 weeks because of the whole "power leveling" scheme that went into play. As it stands for many Legacy players, it is the only thing left to level.
It's also the funnest class I've played so far. It isn't as bursty as a Thaum, damage wise, but it feels more like a traditional utility mage type class than the others, IMO. Kind of reminds me playing a WoW shadow priest or something (with a pet)
My issues with acanists is in dungeons with a not so great glad tank and them stealing aggro fing me up(conj here). As long as most are summoners and not scholars I'm ok with it though :P. WHM FTW!

1. New class that was just made available in phase 4 Open beta.
2. One of it's Jobs is Summoner which is very popular.

Tagging mobs is the key to leveling fast combine that with the ability to heal. That or 70% of the ARR community are a bunch of betas.
Role Diversity isn't this game's forte.

A few people are probbly playing it because its new.
Few more playing it because it branches to two jobs, few more since it's only a couple classes in Limsa.
Then there's the vast majority, who are playing it because it's a ridiculously powerful class.
