So, to get this straight....

in Final Fantasy XIV

For those of us that purchased the game, can we not expect to be able to log in until after the upgrade scheduled for 9/2-9/4 (maybe with a safe date being after the 4th)?

I have not been able to log into the game (except for maybe this morning and once or two since Saturday) with much success at all.

I have simply grown a bit tired of launching the game and trying to connect but without any success.

    I've found I'm able to play at night mostly around 10PM Eastern. Before that, I've not had any luck at all.

    Get a PS3 or 360 then download motion joy and set the X/A button for highspeed turbo then use a rubberband to lockdown the X/A button to spam login for you just keep an eye on it and quickly take the rubberband off when the queue pops up or you'll get exited out using this setup it's only been taking me 5-10min to get in during prime hours.

     

    If you don't have a PS3 or 360 controller as others have said your stuck rapidly spamming the 0 key.

    I seriously don't get what's so difficult for Square to add a basic, functional, que system to their servers. It's 2013, not 1990. Furthermore, I don't get why they have no auto-kick feature for players that are just sitting afk for half a day at a time.

    I don't think I've seen anything that leads me to believe they have an actual plan to fix this. All I see is 'we're adding more servers'. Which is great, but will just mean that we will have even more players experiences the lovely 1017 error.

    No joke on the auto-kick. On my server someone was like why the hell is everyone AFK in town, and at least half a dozen people were like... who logs out? If you get logged in, stay logged in! You don't know if you will be able to get back on, so just afk.

    If people didn't afk, definitely would be better off lol. I know I don't afk like that, but I haven't had much chance to play after EA ended.

    So by the time you actually get to play the game you will not care about the long and boring intro to the game to include the running around in the city talking to people over and over again...you will just be happy to be playing. LOL I wish everyone the best with this game. Sooooooo glad I am not wasting my cash.

    a lot of wheel need to be greased to have a smooth wow,check roger in Canada not that long ago ,p2p was a noon!wow rely on p2p.it took a lot of arguing before roger let wow pass.she ff14 is global .so almost any can play same server as towellie.this can't be in wow.oh we see it but it take insane sync via raidcall or the more popular Google hangout!

    This only happens from around 4pm ET to 9pm ET.   If you log in early in morning like I do, you'll have no que and can log in without problems.   Most people log in on the mornings, so when they come home from work they can play without  trying to log in up to half hour every night.

    I play on a Japanese Legacy server. Truth is, I didn't even know it was converted to a Jp server when I kept my character there. I've played 10 hours+ a day for the past three or four nights, been in multiple groups with Japanese and Americans ( I am in the US and cannot speak Japanese), and quite honestly... It's nice not to have to see all that garbage in Global chat. Everyone is nice, respectful, helps each other out, and does their best to communicate with one another. It's been the best community experience I have had in a MMORPG in a very, very large amount of years. I was initially going to switch to a NA server when they were working right, and/or patched, but at this point I think I am going to stay where I am. I like that everyone is civiil and nice.

    Do you mean that you can AFK all day without getting booted?

    during 4pm EST - 9pm EST youll want to just spam log in until you get in.   They open a 1-2minute window for everyone to log in every half hour.  You have to keep trying until you get into that window.  That's the fastest and easiest way to ensure you get in.

    Just download Autohotkey then for script enter

    this into the scipt launch game with autohotkey running ahd hit F2 once ya in game or in que stop autohotkey

    Around 5pm today eastern time on my NA server it suddenly became possible to logon (earlier in the afternoon I tried for a half hour without success). When I got into the game a friend said GMs had been going around kicking folks who were clearly standing around in towns afk.
