Expecting Login/Server Crash at launch!! Place your bets!!

in Final Fantasy XIV

Calling it right now:

- Login server/ Game server NOSE DIVE at 5am that doesnt get resolved until afternoon or evening

- 3 hour queues to play

- 3000ms lag in game

- All servers full, cannot play create new character with friends or guildmates

- MASS CHAOS!!! "WORST LAUNCH EVAARR" posts inc.

- Generic "we are sorry for inconvenience our servers were not ready for so many people, thank you for your patience" apology from SE.

 

EDIT 8/8/2013: Wow was i right or what??? LOL. If you have ever played an mmorpg in your life, you will have come to the same predictions i had. That being said, i don't know why you guys are even remotely surprised.

 

Even with that said I am going to be one of those people SMASHING their login server every 5 minutes FOR THE ENTIRE DAY trying to get in.

    I don't think it will be that bad.  I expect a rough 3 hours or so though.

    I'm secretly crossing my fingers that the more refined beta process that we saw with ARR will help smooth those issues out. Then again... it's a launch. LOL. We'll see how it plays out. Hope to see you in game too.

    Nothing will ever compare to SimCity 5's epic fail. The minutes turned to hours and hours turned to weeks before people could truly play.

    I've seen good and bad launches, it's a crap shoot right now. So all we can do is wait and see.

    Probably nothing, the only issue they had with open beta was 3102. And that wasn't even a server load issue.  As long as that's truly fixed nothing bad is gonna happen.

    experienced none of those problems during stress test / open beta, so no.

     

    considering there will be probably only 15-20% of the amount of people this weekend as last weekend.

    Id get popcorn but im in the EA with my cancelled order code bwahahaha

    Any graphical, audio, or gameplay restrictions not seen in other mmos but found in FFXIV can be blamed on one thing.

    I played with 1500-2000 ms lag on European server during phase 4, I am ready for 3000 ms ;).

    Hey guys! No one listened to me when i made this thread, so....

     

    I don't understand WHY PEOPLE DON'T GET IT!!!! MMORPG launches are always a train wreck. Why are you guys acting surprised? At the very least if you do get into the game, IT WORKS AND PLAYS like a beauty, unlike other games where people are constantly crashing left and right and there are exploits galore, etc.

     

    Aion

     AoC

    Diablo II

    Warhammer Online

    GW2

    All have had pretty bumpy launches.

     

    common sense guys. too much demand, not enough supply = chaos (ps3 or nintendo wii launch days anyone?). its also extremely hard to predict how many people would purchase the game especially since everyone decides to buy the game on launch day from 3rd party retailers.
