A week ago he was trying to get me and a couple of other "haters " banned for trolling the game. Amazingly enough he has done a complete 180 on his views in less than 24 hours. Do a lookup on his user name.
Anyway as the poster I am quoting said, can't blame nobody but yourself.
Actually paying cash through a bank account on clickandbuy is how you get cheated. Paying with a credit card was my safefall. They claim i can't get a refund because i logged in. Well they released a product that doesn't work without crashing every 5 minutes. So i have full rights to dispute the charges with my credit card company. For those "you didn't pay for SoG" people. Yes SoG WAS paid for, otherwise we could get a legit refund for DnL.
Originally posted by Crimedawg Wake up bud, you never payed $60 dollars to play SoG. Not sure which part of this people don't understand.
I didn't pay $60 to play DnL. I paid $60 for a guaranteed spot in SoG, a dragon in SoG and to play SoG. The DnL client is an added bonus to me especially since it is quite doubtful whether DnL will ever release. Looking at SoG all you have is a world. A very beautiful world but nothing else. Bring in a competent dev team and your 1-2 years from being able to release a playable polished game with limited content. I would double that time for this dev team. In reality they are 2-4 years from being able to release a playable game. Remember this is a game that was supposed to be released in 2002 and what progress has made since then. Almost none. DnL sounds like a pipe dream to me. I paid for SoG my SoG dragon, and the privelege of typing posts here while I wait on the SoG servers not for DnL.

Didn't already make this exact same post in a different thread? Doing the best of?
Here is the best of for me...mind you this is only my third post.
A lot games have server troubles right after they patch a new Publish, nevermind when they first launch.
If they are doing this right, they are releasing a barebones publish. Optimizing server stability, and lag issues. Then slowly release more content (ie more accounts, more NPCS, Mobs, Crafting) anything that will clog up the databases, and make sure each step they are keeping the game optimized.
This is a process.
If you looked at Michelangelo's work when the Sistine Chapel was just an outline, you probably be a naysayer as well....if you didn't understand the process.

We are not talking about Michaelangelo or a work of art here. What we are talking about is a game that will probably never be anywhere near as good as Horizons which was a pretty poor game. This game is not 6 months form release. It is years away. While its better than I anticipated it is barely above the quality of games like Irth online. They have been working on it for 5 years and I doubt another 5 years will help them much. Time to accept it for what it is a a beatiful world, a nice flight dragon simulator and nothing else.
NP3 has consistently refused to show us their product. The speculation was that the game was so bad they would not let us play the game or release the NDA and let their beta testers talk as we might find out the truth. so instead they released this sham to hide behind. By releasing SoG, which in all liklihood is almost a duplicate copy of the beta client, they are gambling they can keep some of their customer base from deserting them. Hoping those people will cling to the hope that there is miracle build or game being hidden by the devs. How many other games have we seen the fanboys do the same thing. They scream, fight, draw lines in the dirt and call people names that refuse to deny that a miracle will happen and save their game.
SoG is what it is a shell of a game. DnL will be the same. That does not mean that it can't be enjoyable if people just accept it for what it is and have fun. But to expect DnL to live up to its promise, potential or to be able compete with other quality polished games is wishful thinking. The real loss here is the loss of potential. The one good thing of SoG is the world. With a competent dev team they could have really done something with that world. Imagine the crafting and harvesting oppurtunities in such a world. The hiding places. The hidden places to be discovered. But there must be something else besides a world and a flight simulator to make a good game. Instead DnL will struggle to release and survive. Its marketplace and competition will be with other niche games like Irth Online, Shadowbane, horizons, AO and Horizons. It is a shame, but SoG/DnL is what it is and unfortunatley its not pretty.
at least give the game a chance to forfill its promises till release. then if it fails you can say i told you so all you want, BUT if its a smash hit (god willing) then we can all sit back - smile and just enjoy the game.
I would so hate to be a pioneer right now. And not just because of the fact that there's a good chance we can't play SoG at all this week. They will have the servers down on the two days I have off work every week.
Something told me not to buy a pioneer key. And I'm glad I didn't.

I think we are talking about a work of art. All games are an art form, and entertainment...much like paintings, drawings.
A lot "if"s, "liklihood"and "probably"s in your rant. You claim you have no received any information on the development of the game, but you are so certain that this "Shell of a game" isn't be implementing in phases in attempt to optimize the servers under a large load. Which to me, would be the competent thing to do, finding the core problems without having to eliminate many possible causes. It sounds like you are jumping to conclusions, and enjoy it.
Regardless, I have read your rants prior to SOG....and they haven't changed. I very much doubt that anything I could say would change that, nor anything in game would change it. You obviously have an agenda on this matter, or you would not be naysaying for weeks on end.
If MMOs are work of arts, they are definitely closer to rock concerts than to some painting.
Painting doesn't get millions of peoples ravels about them and doing silly stuff for them and thinking all the time about them...rock concert can...MMOs do far more successfully.
I don't want to feel elitist, but if a MMO is considered art, painting should not. Art is over used for so many thing, I don't say art is bad, I say putting everything under a general label named art is bad.
As to DnL, I never approve of their design, so I have no opinion on their game beside that I really don't care whatever happen to the, the best the better I guess, but it doesn't really bother me either way.
