What other game is this most like?

AshkentAshkent Member Posts: 772

I am a fan of the MMO style of say, Rift or WoW.  I hated GW2, and Tera.

If this game is mostly like Rift or WoW, then I think I will like it.  Trying to decide if I should buy it or not.

It has some Vanilla WoW, Rift, and GW2 elements.

    Favorite MMO: Vanilla WoW
    Currently playing: GW2, EVE
    Excited for: Wildstar, maybe?

Honestly? It's most like FFXI. Just refined and updated.

    what elements of GW2?

Crafting nodes, quest objectives, mobs, etc., are shared in the world.

FATE's are similar to some group events, although they're closer to WAR PQ's, maybe.

PvP sounded like they were planning to implement some WvW style stuff.

The elements he is talking about are FATEs, which are open world group events. Except they aren't dynamic.

That is not what you said in your post history. According to one of your older posts you had played everything under the sun.

"I've played AO, FFXI, CoH, EQ, EQ2, Archlord, EVE, DDO, LOTRO, GW, Fury, Horizons, Lineage, Lineage2, Planetside, RF Online, Silkroad, SWG, Vanguard, Face of Mankind, Tabula Rasa, and many others I can't think of right now or aren't on the list to the left of the screen."

Curious as to how you never played XI now but did in the past....

I guess I forgot. must not have played much to forget about it. It's been so long ago and I've played so many mmos, its easy to forget.

also, kind of weird and stalker-ish to look up posts from 5 years ago.

The game reminds me most of EQ.

The combat pace seems to be about the same, maybe a lil quicker battles.

The quests are not clearly laid out... you have to dig a lil bit.

To be honest, I have not grouped yet... So really, this is my first impression.

It's more of a wow clone for gameplay/combat.

It has TERA's simplicity of questing and zone design.  It's the same prettiness with little substance.

The instances are more generic than any recent (or not so recent if you include wow) MMORPG I can think of.  The boss fights are very good - some interesting mechanics even early on.  It's the graphics, layouts, blatantly linear flow, trash that are completely generic.  At least there are a lot of instances to do thus far and I like that the story pushes people thru them so that sissified soloists have to group and learn how to actually PLAY the MM part of MMORPGs.

Premium MMORPGs do not feature built-in cheating via cash for gold pay 2 win. PLAY to win or don't play.
