Hello ladies and gentlemen Safehouse here. If you are looking for information on boss fights (or just want to see what boss fights are like) in FFXIV my Youtube channel is the place to go. I have a few videos up now with plenty to come in the next bit as I keep leveling up. Just about to hit lvl 47 so I have played through quite a lot and if you are looking to play a Dragoon then there is a bunch of info you can gather from the vids. Anyways links below to stuff you may be interested in watching, especially if you haven't seen anything from FFXIV: A Realm Reborn yet!
But seriously if you haven't seen anything FFXIV related watch the Garuda fight towards the end I ran that Trial 15 times and succeeded twice. If you don't have a good party with very good knowledge on the fight you are going to fail.
I'm sorry those just look like, as others have said, sit in one spot and tank and spank...
This is Wildstars LOWEST LEVEL DUNGEON. Show me some dungeons that look like this and I will be interested in playing.
Everyone saying the fights are all tank and spank are 1 of 4 things.
1) Trolling
2) Have not passed level 20 dungeons
3) Have not played the game.
4) They have no clue what a tank and spank is
If you stand in 1 spot in any fight past the 3 intro dungeon.. you will die a horrible painful death with a near 0% if not 0% chance of winning. XIV is as tank and spank as WoW is.
Somehow non-action mmo has become labeled tank and spank. People seem to have forgot what that term means. XIV is not an action mmo (Thank god) and it is also not a tank and spank.
If someone wants to see what a tank and spank is, google ffxi cerberus, tiamat, or Nidhogg
ive only fought Ifrit and i have to say that it looked pretty cool, BUT the actual fight was Faceroll: The Video Game. Easy as hell with only one mechanic to have an easy battle.....
i hope the other Primals are actually hard and with more mechanics.
i saw players rolling in the floor to evade a skill and i stop watching. Action RPG games are the cancer of RPG games.
i dont think FF has that, but rolling to actually evade is the best thing that can happen in an mmo to avoid being hit, if done well. If its a poorly done mechanic then its a big pile of crap.
If someone wants to see what a tank and spank is, google ffxi cerberus, tiamat, or Nidhogg
Or we can watch ever video of every dungeon in this version of Final Fantasy. If im wrong please provide a link so that I can see the error of my ways. Until then all I have to go by is what people post on youtube, because there is noway in hell I'm spending my money to play a MMO where I just sit back and mash buttons.
And please stop labeling ever negative post about a game "Trolling". Allow the mods to do that, they seem to be pretty good at that lately anyways.

For someone totally uninterested in the game you sure do post a lot here.
I just don't get why people liking a game bothers so many people on this site so much.
Hell if I looked at any sub forum on this site and actually believed the "reviews" I would never touch a mmorpg.
Why is this site so bent on hating every mmorpg...its mmorpg.com....I thought I could come here and talk about enjoying the mmorpgs I play...
Do people even do that here? Or are the driven off by trolls calling them fanbois and flooding the forums with negative posts...most of which seem like straight misinformation.
Originally posted by Wakygreek I have to say, I watched a few of those videos. I am not impressed. Those look like tank and spank mostly. The fights in Tera even at the level 40 dungeons have more intense combat structures then those. Having said that, in the end a scripted fight will always get boring fast. I hope that newer MMO's start to take into consideration what EQN is doing and add in emergent AI. I would love to see bosses leaving their spawn points and chasing after players or just focusing the healer down rather then sticking with the aggro system that is currently in place.
Yeah lets see how emergent that EQN AI actually is, promising something is not the same as delivering it. TERA fights at level 40 are not hard at all, Cultists Refuge is a complete faceroll.
Its opinion really, I felt that the Tera bosses while also scripted tended to offer more focus then tank and spank bosses shown above. Using an aggro system that is currently in place really takes away from the difficulty of the game. You are right though, EQN is a wait and see at the moment, but the concept is a great idea and I hope it works its way into newer MMOs.
Tera's bosses were way way easier than they are in FF14. Having playing both, I can say that IMO that I was able to go in and do tera successfully right off the bat, can't say that about ff14 in the higher dungeons.
Aori, if what you're talking about is the same fight I've read about on the official forums then it's not you. There seems to be an agreement among other tanks that the fight you're referring to is wonky / laggy at best. Someone said you practically have to stand on top of the boss and as soon as he starts getting ready to do his breath you run THROUGH him and keep running until his animation finishes then you run back. Otherwise no matter where you started off if you were not standing on top of him when the cone was telegraphed, you would still get hit.

yea i think the duty finder server is just extremly taxed atm caus eive notice its get sbit laggy int he instances at times
Doing Aiatar at 32-33 is rough as a tank, if you or the server is lagging the boss will kill you unless you have an absolutely fantastic healer. I swear I avoid his breath attack but I take damage from it when I'm clear outside the telegraph before it fades.
I've personally had bad luck in that whole instance as a tank. I've died a lot more than I want. Not sure if it is my gear or my healers aren't on the ball. Unlike the video in that channel, my hp for more than half the fight bounces between 20-40%.
Aiatar is really rough. i guarantee once the majority of players reach this dungeon there is going to be a ton of QQ threads since its really tough and its required for storyline progression. sure its easy if you have an veteran/expert mmorpg premade team, but for most pugs they will get facerolled hard because it requires an actual gameplan, lot of team coordination, a really good healer and a really good tank. something they do not teach you early on in the game.
Most memorable games: AoC(Tryanny PvP), RIFT, GW, GW2, Ragnarok Online, Aion, FFXI, FFXIV, Secret World, League of Legends (Silver II rank)

Well I think it was the second or third boss of Tam-Tara Deepcroft that doesn't really require a tank. I should know, because my first attempt I was one shotted (I was the tank) and the party finished the fight. I just layed there in shame for 90 percent of it while they killed the big slime monster lol.
All the examples are the easy to medium difficulty ranges which is fine, harder than most mmos.
However I did wanderers palace today and made it to king tonberry today with an experienced group who had claimed yet to have beaten him.
Took us 2 hours and was the hardest raid I've done in years.
I'm a skilled player and we were eventually successful. But my point is anyone judging this games difficulty who has yet to at least complete such a threshold is simply being ignorant and judging the above average yet still learning curve dungeons.
So please stop sounding foolish and calling this game simplistic or easy. This is an oldschool mmo just completing the run of the mil dungeons up to 50 doesn't make you pro. It prepares you for real content

That last one you posted reminds me of the first boss on Phantasy Star. Loved that game.
Anyway, not as epic as that was TBH, but I do like it nonetheless. The game has an Old school feel to it with some modern concepts mixed in and so far I like it
Just did the first 8 man that you receive at 49. Not as epic as I was hoping an 8 man would be but I guess it is an introduction to the 8 man fight. I will let you know how much it improves once I get into a few more and really hit end game over the next week! Fight below:
If you are bored during maintenance check out my channel and get up to date with the bosses that are coming up! Or if you are considering whether to get ffxiv or not check out the Garuda fight below
the bosses are mostly cool and flashy but are not that much challenging or epic as long as you are used to these kinda things and have a good internet connection,i hit 50 few days ago and done many of the challenges already so i am not talking without experience and it is not something i heard of from someone else it is my own exp,but Not being extremely Challenging doesn't mean it is bad at all.as long as some bosses are challenging to an extent that you can't do without any knowledge beforehand it is fine imo (although ifrit hc is kinda easy that much as long as you get a good group but that is not the point).i know it gives us a feel of accomplishment when we beat a challenging game/boss like in Dark Souls but then again it really is not that much of an accomplishment and we should not let it consume or trick us since our time is more valuable than wasting on endless grinding (which is why i probably won't bother with grindng all myth gears since they don't worth it that much and settle with ifrit/behemoth stuff and darklight gears, maybe i go after epic weapon if i find an alchemist lvl 50 or if i hit mine to lvl 50)
btw i still appreciate FFXIV: ARR for what it is and i know there will be more challenges in the game.
the latest epic boss i faced in an mmo for me was Liadri from Guild Wars 2's previous patches but that was a solo challenge and it wasn't flashy with cut scenes and stuff but at the end it gives you a mini-liadri which is the most valuable mini in the whole game imo till now.
my top MMOs: UO,DAOC,WoW,GW2
most of my posts are just my opinions they are not facts,it is the same for you too.
I know that the old FFXIV had 3 modes of difficulty, so they are working on harder bossfights. Still I don't know if this could bring back the rush I used to get when doing burning crusade raids. Wildstar looks great, but I want to dedicate my time to FFXIV, tired of game hopping. Hopefully this game will keep me interested for years like WoW did.

Yeah I don't know what level you are now but the difficulty climbs pretty quickly, especially if you are doing dungeons as soon as you hit the required level as I was. Mainly around lvl 44 when you get the Garuda fight and Dzemael Darkhold, which I found pretty tough, although some people didn't find it too bad. I guess it just depends on your party.
Just finished making vids on the first 2 bosses of Amdapor (lvl 50 dungeon) and the Demon Wall was probly the toughest fight I have had so far. Not so much insanely epic as a few other fights that I have vids coming for but insanely challenging to get the whole party through that one. Link below:
