Kickstarter campaigns are getting really bad.

Evidence:

http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/animus-interactive/kingdom-of-knights

At the very least one would expect that the single Kickstarter fundraising page - from a North American developer - be proofread.

Nope.

#1:  First sentence:  "If you like Medieval Video Games, Building Your Own Castles, And Fighting In Large Scale Combat. This Kickstarter is for you!"

#2:  "And certain structures will need to be rebuilt if destroyed during an attack. Such as all defense structures, and tower systems."

#3:  The best paragraph:  "The game is set in a ¾ top down view, like any traditional RTS game, but we allow you to zoom and change this default angle to anything you wish. You’d be able to see every detail of your city, and zoom into watching your peasants working on the farm if you would so have liked to. We want you to be able to be interactive with your city in ways other Medieval RTS games can only give you a taste of."

I'm not going to spam the rest of this post with more examples.  Almost every sentence has an error.   Forget that the game will NEVER be made and that the ideas presented are utterly moronic.

I only post this because someone from this game's team posts on these forums regularly.  I'd be ashamed.

So what, it's got some grammatical errors, I can still read it fine. I really don't see your point or what your trying to accomplish by posting this.

Many professional sites are full of sentences with incorrect syntax. It's an add not an essay.

Sounds more like the OP is trying to lure people into checking the game out. Till he posted about it I didnt even know it existed in any for or shape.

Sadly, there's an unfortunate portion of the MMO playerbase that may fail to realize there's anything wrong.

There is no excuse for any company, AAA or otherwise, to have such carelessness on one hand and ask for money with the other. The prevailing method of communication on the internet is currently the written word. Having no care or pride in this presentation is akin to showing up for a job interview in a tattered t-shirt, faded jeans, and a booger dangling out of the left nostril.

Professional websites with sentence fragments and questions that end in periods?

    Name one please.

It is more than aesthetics:  read the pledges.   It says that you will "never lose a dime" because you get a $10.00 store credit for donating more than $15.00.   Money is not something that should be treated so flippantly.

The game states two goals:  complete dominance and building the greatest kingdom.    Wait a minute:  I thought you only could have one city?  So what is defined as a "kingdom"?

But hey, you said you could read it fine, so why don't you tell me what the game's overarching design is.

Kickstarter is just a legal way to scam people dumb enough to donate to you. With the exception of Camelot Unchained. Here's a perfect example of a woman scamming people out of $20,000 by pretending to be a teenage girl building a videogame. There's a ton of different stories just like that one about people on Kickstarter.

Kick starter is a great idea, but great ideas do not always work out as they were intended. Banks were a great idea and so was motor transport. They all have their issues but that does not mean we should abandon them. :)

Consider their spelling and grammar in a simple document. Now, think about their spelling and grammar (syntax) in their programming. Still confident in their ability?

Personally the only modern MMORPG trend that annoys me is the idea that MMOs need to be designed in a way to attract people who don't actually like MMOs. Which to me makes about as much sense as someone trying to figure out a way to get vegetarians to eat at their steakhouse.

    Ctrl+Space, spelling doesn't mean much.

As the saying goes, a fool and his money are soon parted....

Kickstarters are great, no one is forcing anyone to help fund their project.

But yes people are getting a bit abusive, like the author of the Looking for Group comic over at lfgcomic.com.  I didn't fund this "game" because it felt crappy as hell and reading comments in the aftermath of the failed kickstarted I realized that the author had like 3-4 other kickstarter projects that he has yet to make good on his promise or how he is putting out new kickstarters.
