How will this solve the already overcrowded worlds?

    Wil this stop afk'ers?

Will this introduce a queue system to the full worlds?

I don't think it will. It will allow them to start reselling as there will be worlds for new characters to create on. Problem is so many folks who can't get in on their existing will flock there new players (brand new) will be locked out again.

The new implementation may help take some of the pressure off the lobby servers and the DF instance servers but I don't thnk it's going to be the wonderful magical all is well fix people think.

    I hope I'm wrong.

I've just read through the notes.

No queue system at present - so our good friend 1017 will still be with us

No kicking afk - I just cannot figure out why this isn't implemented

No transfers yet - looking at mid-Sept, but free companies who decide to transfer will have their ratings reset.

    Just depressed with them atm.

The hope is that with duty finder fixed they can raise the population cap to 5k as was originally planned for.  The worlds are not really overcrowded, its just that they had reduced the cap to such a low level that it seemed like they were.

Yep, people have already begun to say that this or the next patch will remove the ability to just stay in game afk. I for one applaud them doing this, it's not like you can't work around it some. You need an afk for a bit, fast synth you a stack of 99 things. It gets you about 15 minutes of afk time. If you're not back by then you need booting anyway.

If people can feel confident that they can log back on if they log off, the afk problem should pretty much fix itself.

But new worlds combined with a lifting of the concurrent playing cap on existing worlds (combined with a duty finder fix) should fix our immediate problems.

I do still hope SE brings in an afk boot soon and they ought to offer a short-window free world transfer. But we'll see.

If they have to select one audience to please, they will always select Japanese, so no, it is not down during Japanese primetime.

No que but I don tthink SE is going to pay for a bunch of servers and not expect them to hold an unreal amount of people.  So no one should see 1017 or SE should ask for thier money back for thier upgrades.

They said they were going to put in an afk booting system before the upgrades.

Cant transfer and if its like FFXI you wont be able to transfter to full world, but the servers should take care of this problem too.   Its the main reason they are putting them in, to increase capacity.   At this time it would be kinda dumb to start shuffling mass people to one world or another which would break destination world.
