Lobby server connection has encountered a problem.

I used to get this once in a while, but now its every time.  Looking at their forum they say the fix is to turn off your modem for an hour.

Can you link that info please? Is that player advice or official advice from the devs?

Same thing 2002 and it just kills it. Everything looks like it's up on the server status site.

I become more and more unimpressed with the bountiful errors and problems.

I just renewed my IP as detailed in this thread:

    http://www.mmorpg.com/discussion2.cfm/thread/395567/some-tips-for-log-in-and-other-info-HERE-.html

I was able to see my character finally but then I got the 1017 and 2000 after that again. I guess its off for the day for me personally.

They are not errors in the form of bugs or issues.

The severs are full, the login server keeps going down due to traffic.

That is the reason you see "errors"

new servers tomorrow so don't expect any changes.

And no..not everyone has the "errors" as many are in game right now

Yep, 2002..and right from the grayed out start button (main menu). This is AFTER being disconnected in the middle of a dungeon.

It's us folks on the outside looking in that have the errors.

For the past couple of hours I couldn't get the NA/EU list to come up. The JP list had one server open so i made a character there but was immediately greeted with 'Server Full. Try again later.'

A few minutes ago...OMG my characters! But again the server is full.

I guess I am done for today.

Servers are full of AFK players.  Players don't want to log out and face the 2002 message you received. I get all the "error" messages as well, it has nothing to do with your modem. Just keep trying to log in and you will eventually.

When I logged in this morning, about 80% of the players I came across were AFK for the first few hours - when I logged out I would guess about 30% were AFK. Sucks that they do that and prevent others from getting in easier,  but it is what it is.

No, not the 1017 error code.  I cant even see either na/eu or japanese server lists.  2002 is worse than 1017.

yeah i get that Lobby connection error sometimes. Not as often as the server fulls, or the ones that cant find any servers on a specific region.

On a different thread someone said it was only 50 people or so who were afk, I wonder why the discrepency of some people saying there are relatively few people afk and others saying they make up a fairly large chunk of those logged in at a given time.

People who cant get on assume the servers are packed with people AFK.

People like me who don't have issues getting on can clearly see that a VAST majority of people in the game are actually playing.

Just went around to all the major cities...its not a sea of afk people.  Most are doing something or have the cinematic icon as they are in a cutscene.

Yeah there are people who might be afk (its mid day so I doubt for long) but when I log off at night around 1-2am you don't see tons of people afk for the night.  I might be one of those afk guys when I tab out for a smoke break...I wouldn't count those as actually afk though.

Yeah it was me who estimated under 100 people.  There just are not that many people late at night logged on afk for the night.  People who cant get in want to believe there is a simple fix and thus pretend there are thousands of people afk and that's the reason they cant get in.

36 hours until the issue actually gets fixed (and no not afk kicker new servers)

I dunno...really was hoping this site could supplement the SE's lacking forums.   Its just impossible to have an actual conversation about the game here.  So much BS on this site its crazy.

I'd disagree with this, I been in a lot lately, at off peak hours and peak hours too, and you see a lot of afk players, usually just standing around the spires in limsa and gridania. I'm sorry but no, this game has a huge number of AFK campers, enough that even SE has said it is a problem that they have to fix. It is not people playing the game that is the issue.
