Biggest flaw of FFXIV ARR: Party Size

4 people? Really? That means you have to have equal parts dps and healer/tank. No wonder queue times are long for dps. I thought WoW's 5-man groups were too small. Someone explain to me what the devs were thinking with 4-man groups.

They have 8 man groups too. And 24 I believe. The 4 man groups are just for the story mode dungeons.

Not sure why everyone says dps take long to get into a grp. I wait an average of 5-10 mins as a dps.

That's good to hear, but I imagine that's the equivalent of 10-man and 25-man raids? Or is 8 man something different

Duty finder is seriously hosed.  They're supposedly working on it with the server fix.

We'll see.  4 of us standing outside TamTam (or whatever it was called).  Healer, Tank, 2 DPS.  All standing there waiting for duty finder.  We started talking and found out we were all waiting... manually grouped... good to go.  Right in we went.  A couple of LFG shouts will still end up working better.

One big problem, imo, is that Arcanists can't declare themselves healers before they are Scholars. I don't know about the 20s dungeons, but I could definitely heal the earlier ones no problem

Yeah I dont think the duty finder is a good indication of party size being good or bad. Its one of the main reasons why people cant get into the game because it isnt working as intended.

I don't mind the smaller groups, as they allow for gear to be obtained faster. I've played both Everquest and WoW and I don't really find the bigger groups to be all that great because that means you just need to find more people to be able to do a dungeon.

Getting 4 people together is not an issue really, so it could be something where if you want quick groups, getting 4 people is easy, getting 6 can be a pain.

My experience with EQ2 (this was in the early days, mind you) was that you really didn't need to have 6. If you had good players you could easily get away for 5 or even 4. The point with allowing groups of 6 is that you can have content of more variety. You'll need crowd control and backup heals or a backup tank. All that stuff is possible. With 4, it really isn't

    This I can agree with.

I was VERY disappointed to see 4 man parties.

Im extremely happy to now know that 4 man groups are only for the storyline easy mode dungeons...thank god.

8 man dungeons I cant wait, its been so long since ive done a dungeon party with more than 5...that wasn't a raid at least.

Don't mind if raids are not epically huge...you reach a point and it doesn't matter...

How's it not possible? And there was never any dungeon, when released, that 4 people could do, lol. They only became that easy after you got a bunch of end game gear to do them, or gear that was much higher than the level.

From my counter, if you needed 1 tank, 1 healer, 1 cc and 1 dps, you've got enough there. I think 4 people party size is alright.
