Instead of extending the free time, how about they pull their fingers out their asses and implement either A: An AFK booter, or B: Server restarts every x amount of hours to kick off the AFKers. These problems are shambolic and could have easily been avoided. They could give me a year's worth of free time to play and i'd still be left with the bitter taste in my mouth from all the problems I've had getting on today on my day off work.. all of which could have and should have been avoided by a little bit of forward planning and common sense.

Could be 4 hours of playing the game and 80 hours of "Num 0"'

I suppose that being a 32 year old parent of a 6 year old has made me infinitely more patient then most of the people on this and the Final Fantasy site lol.
Like I said, I have had some issues getting in, but I have been able to play every night that I have attempted to play. It is a bit of a pain getting in and can get frustrating, but I still believe the game itself is solid.
The proof is in logging in. All these people complaining and throwing fits and yet... all the servers are still full.

Good point.
If that is true. It answers once and for all the argument about XFire and weather or not its numbers are valid. *wink wink*

Well like everyone else, when I have the luxury of logging on, I'm not so eager to log off so if I'm out for under 4 hours, I'll stay logged in. Today I've played about 2 hours and spent an hour pressing the 0 numpad key.

+1 on the outstanding observation skills. That's 12 hours a day! Not much comeback for that, is there?

So is the XFire number hours in game, or including login attempts? As in played time or what? Just curious as to when XFire begins to count time.

Well it says I'm logged in now yet I'm stuck hammering 0 while swearing at my monitor.

Was it a bad design to release a game without AFK timers? Hell yeah it was! But what would be involved with implementing them now? Would they need to recode the game? Would it be a rush job? Will it break things that currently aren't broken? Would it cause more problems than it resolves? Is it faster and easier to implement new servers in the data centers than to re configure the game? How do you know they have their fingers in their asses and haven't weighed all these options out and came up with the most efficient method to get everyone online in the quickest way possible?

So, today the servers come down for 10 hours to EXPAND world count and size, AND they give you an extra week of free days AND you are still MAD?
A M A Z I N G
Just like when you see someone go to the food counter and say, "this sandwich is wrong, I want my money back and a new sandwich."
Sounds greedy to me.
Here, have my 2 coppers.
