Is there a way to macro it so you only press one hot key?

Yeah, I know GW2 has limited skills. However, I have to worry about moving/dodging and being really active. I tried googling and searching for an addon/mod or some in-game way to make a macro so I press one key that activates all my abilities. This way I can focus on moving around and dodging. I keep being hit and dying in dungeons and events, and people keep yelling at me cause I'm not moving. But I can't move when I'm focusing on repeatedly pressing a bunch of buttons.

Any help would be appreciated. :)

Bind all abilities to 1-0 and use a ruler!

A real macro like that would probably get you a ban.

Why do you even want to do that?

Most of the time you should be using #1 and you can easily have that in autocast anyway.

So as long as you use the mouse to turn you should be able to to easily reach the `12345 side of the keyboard while moving.

And if you have a mouse with side buttons you can do even more.

I have a logitech g700 so I have dodge, healing skill and crtl in the thumb buttons (I use ctrl+1, ctrl+2, ctrl+3, ctrl+4 for the F1-F4 skills) and I have 7,8,9 on the 3 buttons by the left mouse button.

Anet has stated that only macros that are one key for one result are allowed. A macro to use multiple abilities is strictly against the rules and will get you banned.

If you really think that activating all skills at the same time instead of waiting for the right situation is a good idea, then I understand why you are constantly getting yelled at.

Get this keyboard, I have been using one for the past 9 years and they are the best gaming keyboard I have ever had.

All the modern fancy keyboards are just your typical keyboard with fancy lights and colours... but not this one, the key layout on the left is the best thing since sliced bread. :)

You can program each and every key individually with ease using their own programming language, you can even emulate mouse clicks and mouse movements with the keys!

I appreciate the links to the keyboard/mice for gaming. But they look too confusing. I have a small sized keyboard and have to look where my fingers press the keys. Otherwise I press the wrong buttons or forget where they are. The ones linked here, have too many buttons. And my keyboard is half the size of a regular keyboard (has all the letters of course, but no f1 keys or numpad or anything. Just basics), so that helps a lot. It does help a bit though with GW2 than a regular keyboard would.

In WoW I solved this by macroing everything to one key.  And I only glance down to see where it is. Then I can focus on moving and what not in battles.

In GW2, I mostly stare at my keyboard cause the abilities refresh really quick. And I don't want to just use auto attack, since that isn't optimal or get me more dps than people who use all abilities. But this makes it hard to dodge and move around compared to other MMOs I've played.

Using auto attack for damage is in many cases the most optimal route.

For example thiefs generally do more damage with their #1 skill and their backstab (inv+#1 skill) then with whatever other skills you could be using (except if you have heartseeker on a under 25% health opponent). Sure, with a warrior you want to use that hundred blades on recharge and maybe whirlwind attack if there is a lot of mobs or if the mob is on a corner and you can get full spin on it. But when Hundred blades is on CD, you will want to swap to axe (or maybe sword) and just auto attack.

Rangers, best damage is #1 sword.

Sure an elementalist you want to cycle your abilities and attunements but for damage conjuring a great sword or a lightning hammer and auto attack is the best.

Focus more on movement and dodging and less on keeping the abilities on cooldown.

I admit it OP. I found the very question offensive. I am a firm believer in playing games rather than programming them to play for you. It's not my place to tell others how to enjoy their play time but what you are asking for takes playing right out of the game and turns it all into a spectator sport more appropriate for something to be watched on the TV.  If this is really what you want then perhaps GW2 really isn't the game for you? Its happened to everyone before when you find a game for whatever reason be it mechanical or class design just doesn't fit your style or desires. Rather than automating play move on to something you can really enjoy.

OP, I have a feeling this macro would not help you avoid others yelling at you in Dungeons.

Get a bigger keyboard and learn to play without looking at your keyboard. Otherwise you will always be the one yelled at.

Ah, so you can just use auto attack? I play a Necromancer, but maybe a warrior would be better. Then I can focus on moving/dodging. But what about the other abilities? Do I just not use them or does it depend on the situation?

AH, READ THE SKILL DESCRIPTIONS? They are pretty self-explanatory. If you can't do that, stop playing games.

There are also youtube videos on how to play - people really need to have things handed to them on a platter.

You can't just use auto attack but you to not use it you need a good reason.

For example if you are playing a power necro with axe+focus you will want to use #2 and #4 on recharge to build life force and vulnerability but for most of the time you will auto attack and once your life force is full you enter death shroud and mostly use the auto attack there.

There isn't exactly a rotation of skills.

How would you build such macro?

On my keyboard i have timers depending on circumstance, since my keyboard layout is different I will just call Skill A, B, C, D, E.

    So, I put conditionals like:

If Skill A is pressed more than 1.5 seconds, do Rotation A

If Skill A is pressed less than 1 seconds (insta press), do Rotation B.

    Rotation A = Press A, Wait 1.5seconds, Press B wait 1 second, Press A, Press C.

    Rotation B = Press A, Press B, Press C, Press D, wait 1.5 seconds press A+E.

And so on, thats why i love my Zboard :) I can program everything with it and the keylayouts are out of this world!

    LULZ!

I'm assuming this entire thread is 'for fun'.  Clearly (or maybe not so), the OP is taking the piss out of either the game or a certain type of player.  I'm reading and thinking even some of the replies are 'in on it' too :) and maybe I'm the stupid one for even wondering "maybe it IS a serious question?"

Either way, I had a good chuckle.  Well done OP for providing some comic relief on the macro topic.

For the non-EU folk, or those not accustomed to hearing the phrase "taking the piss", it means "making fun of"

    Oh, how I lol'ed.

But how will that work in GW2?

You start rotation A and then the mob just decide to toss a boulder at you and now you need to dodge.

By not dodging. GW2's mobs aren't hard and you can just kill them with just a rotation or two most of the time. Course in dungeons it'll be diff but for normal stuff? Easy.
