Have a buddy of mine waiting for new servers to open...but how can you tell which is west coast? Don't want to join an east coast server...how to tell? Any info would be much appreciated

There is no current way. From what Ive seen all server times are based in JP with a local time clock setting available.

I'm pretty sure all NA servers are in one location. Either in the United States or Canada.

All of the NA servers are in the same location, I believe Montreal, Canada. Theyre not split into East / West, just NA / EU and JP.

If this helps, you can look at this list for a server that you have good ping with, though it should be basically the same for all NA servers: http://xivstatus.com/index.php?s=mobile

Nope. Just JP servers are in Japan. NA / EU servers are hosted in Canada.

I live in Seattle Wa and have no issues with the servers so their location doesn't seem to be a issue for the west coast

Complete nonsense. NA and EU servers are in Canada.

This is what I was going to suggest, if you can't tell which is East or West Coast, the next step is to do a ping test to see which gives the best result.   Or even google FFXIV server status and some of those sites will show you all server ping tests.

I don't care where my server is, as long as I get good ping results.

What i found is you probably could play on any server without much latency

North America Datacentre avg under 30 (26/29)

Europe Datacentre avg low 50's (48/56)

    Surprisingly:

Japan Datacentre avg under 100 (91/96)
