Well there goes my hopes and dreams of a truly different mmorpg! I hate this!!! everytime a company decides to make a out of the box mmo it dies, why? because there are wayyy too many 12 year old kids that finds WoW TRULY innovative just because it is the first mmorpg they ever have tried! Im sick of this! WHEN can we see a completely new mmorpg, with completely new ideas`? im telling ya, im going crazy. so therefor im asking you guys, which game are you really looking forward too? I am really excited about ToA, (Permanent death, full loot, full pvp, 10+ races, including dragons - SIGN ME IN!) but there is such a long time until release.
Thank you for your respone...

Although I am so disappointed in everything having to do with Dark and Light and SoG, I haven't completely given up on the game. Maybe in a few more years, if they manage to pull some miracle out of their asses, there will be a great game there.
Until then, I am most anticipating Fallen Earth.
I've got a list of others I am interested in and will most likely try when they are released, none being too unique, but have some features that look good.
Vanguard:SoH, Dungeons and Dragons Online, Age of Conan, and Hero's Journey.
I think Pirates of the Burning Sea is somewhat unique. I've got my eye on this one, too.
Vanguard will have many similarities to the Everquest series (Hey, some of the masterminds behind the original EQ are hard at work over at Sigil working on SoH) but i wouldn't label it a clone.....

In my opinion, the game looks very promising. Search around abit the game offers plenty of innovative features.. ( Many followers will describe it as, the true Everquest 2)
EDIT: Yes it will have PVP
Looks like a clone to me. Even the interface looked the same, including the textures.
The only thing that appears to be new is the graphics.
The Chronicle has some interesting innovations in store for the PvP set.
If www.mmocenter.com pulls that off they have a couple Horror MMOs in the works as well.
Well I'll comment on Player housing (which is one of nearly a thousand aspects that sets this game apart from Everquest)
Players will be able to build and own residential, commercial, industrial structures as well as store items in those structures. This will include residential areas for storing goods, commercial areas in which you can have a vendor sell your wares for you, as well as 'industrial' areas that will help crafters refine and assemble goods. We will have craftable vehicles and buildings in regards to player cities, though at this time, we dont have exact details on how this will work. There will be differing styles, and there will be some recipes that you can only execute on a particular continent, town or dungeon.
We cant go into too much more detail other than to say that housing will be zoned you cant build just anywhere. Likewise, there is an upkeep associated with housing, and we expect people to move as they go up in levels, leaving buildings (or at least build-able land) behind. Does that mean everyone is guaranteed a house? Were hesitant to commit to that its akin to guaranteeing content in general. There will be competition to a degree, though we will do our best to avoid both tedium and frustration. That, and the world is seamless and BIG, so there should be good amount of room.
Also, our approach, like most MMOGs, is shard-based, so servers will age, new servers will be put up, etc., so these and many other opportunities shouldnt only be available at launch, but after launch as the game naturally grows and new worlds are launched.
In addition to owning buildings on a character level, player-controlled villages and cities are expected to appear over time.
Player housing phase one is already in. If you want to compare it to something, it's probably most similar to SW:G. You own a house, it's not instanced and is in the real world, you can arrange objects in it, place objects in it that you found while out in the world, and store items like a bank.
We have big plans to go beyond this and have hinted at player cities and the like. We are being a bit tight lipped about it though because we're implementing this big plan piece by piece. In other words, I don't want to hype one aspect of it but then not have it turned on until after launch.

I'm sure I'll give Vanguard a go, but I'm not really too interested in an EQ clone. I didn't much care for the original, though EQ2 is okay. I just don't know why all the rocks in Vanguard have to be so phallic... it's alarming! And scary!
(I'll be SO embarrassed if I'm the only one who noticed it)
I almost spewed my coffee out all over my laptop Signe!

I've been keeping a close eye on Pirates of the Burning Sea. I'm not sure if it will be my cup of tea, but, it sure looks interesting/different which is a bonus these days. Ability to be a pirate, navy, or trader is cool. Ships look great. Oceans look amazing. I'm not sure if the release date is correct. The guys over there are keeping a close eye on the crap-fest that DnL has become and are vowing not to follow the same path, which is nice. Plus they already have a few games under their belts.
Vanguard: SoH looks like the classic EQ/fantasy game clone. Ironicly, that's exactly what is drawing me to it. Sometimes I miss the old EQ days. Sure that scenario has been played out a million times, but, no one could mess with EQ in its day. If this game can capture that essense and improve upon it, then it will be the real EQII, as some folks say.
RF Online is the 3rd one I'm looking out for. Seems to have an updated version of the FFXI style graphics, which I liked...kind of anime, but not too cartoonish. Screenies look interesting and it has a Sci-Fi theme, which is also nice for a change. I've been longing for a space game, this might be it.
Sorry if these responses sound cookie-cutter, but, they are the ones I'm watching and the ones that honestly interest me the most.
The Chronicle is the only game I think has a chance to break the classic MMO mold and still be a good, fun game to play.

If Vanguard could fix things like the lack of PvP between supposedly hated races, spawn camping, spawns that could take a week or more to spawn just once etc. I might consider it. I did have fun in EQ back before the days of Luclin and even before Kunark.
No offense, but i see alot of posts here flaming dnl with way worse language. Maybe ur just irritated because i refered to a non-mmo game?
