For now, we are facing some user authentication issues, but nothing we cant solve, hopefully! The whole development team is working very hard and does everything it takes in order to turn this difficult time in nothing but a short-lived inconvenience. |
Notice the "Hopefully!" part. They dont even know for sure if they can fix the problem?

Man, I dont see the point here. Blizzard have made loads of statement like this and everyone see it as good humor, but turning it into uncontrustructive and unjustified critisism is just wrong just because DnL are showing humor.
I mean its ok, if you dont like the game, and argue why you think that DnL and its developers arent doing a good job, but whats up with all these hate post.
Ok, you tried it, didnt like it, move on to the next game. Ok you paid for it, unsatisfied with what you paid for, then either suck it up and hope you will survive without the 60 bucks or then try to get the money back trough legal way trough Click and Buy. You do now this company is a rather proffesional payment and do listen to unsatisfied customers.
Im curious still though, why there are so many flame posts, if everyone tried the game. WHy are people still sticking around? I mean, if you think its crap then just let it be to whatever destiny it deserves.
Last, I think people need to step back from their computers abit, I mean people are bitching like their entire lifes are ruined and how they have been betrayed beyond all reason. There are bigger issues and worries in life than a silly computer game, get over it if ya dissapointed. Your all acting like a bunch of drug addicts getting "bad drugs". Its really scary....
No I awaits the flames, but dont really care, tired of people throwing around insults to the game without justyfying them or just doing it for the sake to provoke.

Blizzard was actually joking.... Blizzard proved they could keep servers running for longer then 2 hours before making a comment similar to ADs.... Besides, I thought one of your main arguments was "Farlan is a little company, don't compare them to SoE's and Blizzards".
Hmm just trying to inform people who didnt PAY or felt bad for being secs late in getting a KEY.
Just assureing them that they are the lucky ones who didnt waste thier freaking money on getting in beta. Sorry if most of us are saying things you dont want to hear but the truth needs to be out.

Blizzard is a large company with a very good track record. I was a part of WoW closed beta and through retail, probably 18 months worth of time spent. Even with 6 months until release, Blizzard had it's crap together much more than the DnL team. Not that I'm a big WoW fan anymore, and once my 2nd character hit 60 I quit the game completely, but it's a good example of a successful 2nd gen MMO. I think that's why it gets so much comparison.
Now, I'm not bashing Farlan or anyone working on DnL, making an MMO of this magnitude takes a lot of time. However, doesn't it feel like SoG is right on that early-beta/closed-beta line? Everything but the environment feels patchy, the character models seem 1st gen, and the UI seems alpha. Even simple combat is wonky.
There's a lot of work to do on this game in 6th months, and while I don't mind dealing with these issues in a game I'm not paying monthly for (I've played a lot of betas/retails a lot worse than this), there needs to be a major overhaul which I suspect will either push this game past the April release, or sink it altogether.
Blizzard have had their problems aswell, and I acted exactly the same way when people criticized blizzard for being a new MMORPG company. I remember when they announced that "open" beta would be "soon". And then didnt release the beta before a month after they used that term.
Do you realise how much crap was unjustified thrown at Blizzard, cause of that comment and only based on the fact that they were inexperienced. Same problem and the same people proberly attacking it. And such useless posts doesnt belong on any forums at all, unconstructive and a waste of space. I reacted exactly towards them, as I do now.
I dont mind people posting that people shouldnt pay for the game because its bugged, not enough content etc. justified criticism, with reasonable arguments behind it as to why its not a "good" game. I myself dont think people should go buy this game, have said it loads of times. But all these flaming posts who doesnt say anything besides "Lol DnL sucks!" "Rofl, DnL is teh crap" not contributing anything to the forums at all. If you want to warn people about the game, then do it proberly instead of just slinging useless posts out.

For me, you can compare DnL with any game you want to, and I do compare it to any game I like and know.
At this point, I could care less about SoG. I am a Pioneer, and my concern now if for Dark and Light in the future. If the whole development team is wasting their time trying to make SoG work, what is happening to DnL? I was afraid of this from the moment I heard about SoG. This will inevitably push back the DnL release even further. The game is already no where near what is needs to be, and in four months, with a full, dedicated dev team, I doubt it will be improved enough for its scheduled release. Now that the devs are all fumbling around with SoG, it just matters worse in the long run.
There is nobody behind the wheel in the Farlan family vehicle.
This is obviously not what I was argueing against. Please do post all the negative reveiws and feedback you feel like aslong is backed up. But what I do not advocate is insulting and creating hatefull environment. If you think the game is a waste of money then please say so, and do it whilst backing your oppinions up with plausable arguments such as. I didnt like the game because it was too bugged, the guildinvite system didnt work, the chat system was lousy and so on. I never said anything about people shouldnt be allowed to post stuff like that, I even think myself that the game is not done enough that its worth paying for.
what I am against, is this pointless negative additude on the forums, pointless posts not saying anything at all, but just slinging unbacked insults at the game or the people who still find it interesting.
And I dont mind hearing these things at all, dont know where you got that idea from. I like hearing other peoples oppinion about the game, but posts as this is just taking out space without giving the people who like the game anything or giving the people who is curious about the game anything as the post makes no sense, and last it dont give the people who hate the game anything. I just plain out, a waste of time and space.
This post is not a hate post as you describe it.
It is a post showing the incompetence of a developer who has claimed so much for the past four years, only to show that they can't even get their own login server to function correctly
I do not see their announcement as a joke in any way, there is no smiley faces, and no J/K statements involve. They state simply that they HOPE they can solve the problem with the server.
I cannot make a comment on the game itself as I have not been able to login to it to even see for myself what it is like. I can only go off of the comment made by people who have managed to get in, and those comments do not look promising since there seems to be no content in the game at all.
I am expressing my extreme disappointment in a company that I had so much hope for, only to find they are a bunch of bumbling fools who have been lying to everyone for four years.
I did not spend $60.00 on the pioneer key. Thankfully I had enough suspicion about NP3 to not want to invest any money in something I had no proof existed. So now I am incredibly sad and angry for those who have invested in it, and found a pile of dung where they were expecting a pot of gold.

Blizzard dealt with 10-100x more players than they ever expected at launch. SoG has a set number of players, so server stress should have been accounted for.
What happened to the free stress test?
I have never heard of a newer MMO launching without stress testing.
why than if you people hate this game soooo damn much, do you continue to post sooo much hatred towards it...
any normal people would just forget about it and move on, i started to think that it was because we had a big "influx" of jedi's that migrated from SWG. you know, becuase they had such a uber 1337 game like SWG they might have been thinking that "this" game should be a "clone" of it..
but than after going over many posts and only seeing a few names that actually repetitively "bashed" this game a fine expample (birdseed taking it as far as making a sig???) i know feel it must be something more to the order of these people aren't unsatisfied customer's but more SOE, Blizzard or some other MMO's employee's.
think about it, i to have come across games that i either paid for or just checked out in beta or demo. but i never spent as mush time bashing one game as much as you children/"guys trying to save your job". do in their forums any other related forums.
it's understandable, ok we see your point, it did'nt live upto every standard you had set or maybe not even one, so what do you do, WALK AWAY. you all have posted for 3-6 days straight, we all get your point, you don't like it and nor should we.
if you paid for a "pioneer" key, you already knew the chances before you bought it, it was clearly stated in the form that everyone so eagerly clicked on many times over, i too bought a "pioneer" key and i not one bit dissapointed. if you want you money back you can pm just about any non pioneer in the DnL forums and make a privite deal, tho its illegal im sure just selling it for the money that was paid for may be looked over if caught, plus there are many i mean loads of people that want them.
if its your jedi's errrm i mean customer's, well if it was upto me you could have them, ever since they came we the people that have been with this game for years have seen nothing but whinning and flaming, our forums now resemble SWG's to the tee that is. please take them free our forum's.

I never seen game companies, who used J/k or "smiley" when preventing jokes regarding the development of the game. Do you honestely think that they would post such a comment if they really had such a devastating problem, which just might result in a complete closure of the game. Most likely they wouldnt say a word or they would make an official well formulated statement about the exact problem and what consequenses we might inspect.
Now Its perfectly alright you are unsatisfied with the downtime, and you not having a chance to get to try it, which therefor make you think the developers are incompetent. Well put, thats the shit, which I actually can be arsed reading and I can see the logic in and I do agree somewhat in such a statement. But why not say it then, instead of making your oppinion into some pointless joke not even near making as much sense as what you just did in this post?
Last, dont feel sorry for the pioneers. Im a pioneer, I spend 60 bucks plus VAT to get this game and I do NOT regret. Do not feel sorry for all the suckers out there who spend 60 bucks and then come crying when realising that the game wasnt as THEY had inspected it to be. Everything is relative, and if you spend 60 bucks for something you never tried and have no idea how it will be like and then suddenly is angry with the company because it wasnt what you expected then, no offence, you are a fool.
And if those 60 bucks are big punch on your economic, then you firstly shouldnt throwing it around on games you never tried nor even throwing them around on computer games at all. They would better be invested in a damm suit so you can go out and get job.

EQ2 did, and it was pretty new and pretty big.
I still have hope for this game. I am a pioneer and although, we were sold a bill of goods that did not exist I still have hope that the game will become playable. I really believe that the one of the major problems with DnL/SoG is not the development team but the management team. They really suck at managing their company. Only a stupid company advertises what they cannot deliver. You lie or exaggerate to your clientelle about your product and eventually its going to bite you in the ass. This was a big bite!
I have not been in game yet due to the rejected login problem, but I know this has to be rectified pretty quick. I am certain alot of peeps have already cx'd their preorder via Click & Buy. I have not done this but if I cannot login prior to Christmas I will seriously consider it. Maybe pick up the game at a later date if it is possible.
It really is a shame too. Such a nice big world to roam in. Sometimes your eyes can be bigger than your appetite.
