Not a game for solo players

I guess this would be my advice for anyone interested in this game

only play if you have some close friends to play with

i stopped playing about 5 days ago (server problems were not the issue, i had a macro that would get me in <20 mins)

i got to mid 20's and the game was getting good

but...

i just didn't feel a pull towards it

i'd rather watch tv or play a game like League where there is more forced interaction with players

im sorry but this makes no sense it was getting good but you didnt feel the pull?  So you stopped playing a game that was good because you didnt feel the "it" factor?  Also, the game can be conquered alone for the most part which makes it a solo friendly game and completely nulls your title; or can be played with friends doing leves and dungeon runs and hunting logs.

Leves are meant to be solo content, fyi. I think a lot of people feel like OP given the way people in other games seem to react to it. This truly was a case of "See you in 2 weeks" for many of the quitters I was talking to. Too bad they didnt give me their gold as I asked. :(

Boycotting EA. Why? They suck, even moreso since 2008.

they do have leve sharing in the game i often do this as to not cap my allotted allowance.

I completely disagree.   This is the first game where my RL gaming buddies and I couldn't roll on the same server at launch (due to obvious reasons), however even with all of us rolling solo, we're all enjoying the game immensely.

We are definitely looking forward to regrouping once server xfers are available but at the same time, the game has been a lot of fun to experience on my own and I know my buddies would agree.

I'm 35 and I did it all solo.   Que up for dungeons and other players will join with you to finish dungeons for main storyline.   I havent needed another person yet.  I am die hard solo player even when I'm in Free Company (guild).   Everything so far has been easy solo....

Your health bar and mana regen fast too, just like any solo'able game should be.  If you want to see what to play an unsoloable game, try playing FFXI, now that game you NEEDED others for EVERYTHING.  This game, I dont need anyone at all.  Though, it is nice to get friends to help and run dungeosn with, because pugs are a bit of a pain, but not impossible like the old school days were.

If you don't like it, that's fine.

Not sure what any of this has to do with the game not being for solo players.

If you mean "never joining a group with anyone ever" then yeah you'll be left out of stuff.   But as far as just not knowing anyone, or even not wanting to join a guild, the duty finder can take care of most of the group content for you.

Translation: I want a game where there is NO solo content.

    Good luck with that.

What!? You say its not a solo friendly game yet you rather play League because it forces you to group? Youre not making any sense.

    What you want solo only?

Then follow the storyline.  There will be dungeons that will magically place you with 3 other people, they are easy to complete...that's all the grouping you need to do.

Hell crafting and gathering is 100% solo unless they have a botanist dungeon im not aware of.

If you want to group, it does force you a bit early on, and you can join fate parties which are really popular, oh and endgame is all group stuff aside from crafting

I'm not sure I understand the case the OP is making. But it's enough that he says he didn't "feel it" I get that. I've had my share of games that for whatever reason, I thought started out great but ended up "not feeling it" So I respect that.

But for the reasons, I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and just chalk it up to trying to explain something you can't quite put your finger on. Actually, that pretty much sums up how I felt about Rift: Storm Legion.

Agree with many here, you can solo a great deal in this game and the duty finder sorts the parts you can't. As for the just not feeling it, I can understand that, there's many a good mmo that has left me feeling that way GW2 being one and also some that most people thought were rubbish but I loved,Faxion online for example.

The game is very solo friendly. In fact the only areas other than the forced dungeons that are 'group-oriented' are the FATEs and those are generally so over packed, you are in a group whether you are grouped or not.

If you group for 'regular' content, you end being done so fast you wonder if you even did the content in the first place. (Other than the story line runs to other cities)

Yet the game forces you to play through story mode with many solo instances (as in you literally can't do them in a group, much less bring a group inside), separates players by content locks, and more group unfriendly design decisions.  Really irritating design for a group oriented game.

Once you have done the quests (i'd recommend main questline first class, hub quests on your second) it becomes a question of grinding. That goes much better grouped. If you are levelling a healer or tank this can be done through the duty finder if you are DPS you are pretty much stuck with joining FATE groups. You can do FATES solo but it's pretty slow after 30ish.

Agree with the poster. It's not solo friendly. They force you to go through all dungeons (main story) if you want to play end game content. If i am wrong then forget it.

Well, I've played the game up to level 44 solo.  Solo in that I do not have a FC or a group of static players.

I'm even a healer!  Yes, I've done random groups for all of the dungeons and haven't had much issue at all.  If it wasn't for some of the end game raid content, I wouldn't bother joining any FC.

If you want to socialize then do something about it.

I myself am a quite shy and casual player so i did not really felt pulled by any of the PVE hardcore guilds in my server, so know what i did?

I created a family oriented Free Company and before i knew it , i had about 40 nice and gentle players by my side as we talked, had fun and helped each other clear content we could not do on our own.

Socializing does not happen unless YOU make it happen, you are the only common denominator in all of your relationships and that is true both online and irl.

Seems like I see two contradicting complaints about the game.  One will say you can't solo in the game, while someone else will say you go solo too much.  The OP seems to say both?

At any rate.  Seems the game has options to me.  I like that because sometimes, I want to run with a bunch of people in a group and just have fun that way; other times I just want to drink a beer and wander around only worrying about what I want to do.

  • TsumoroTsumoro Member UncommonPosts: 435

OP this is more your fault here. Sounds like you want to be 'forced' into a group encounter. Either someone inviting you, or the game 'forcing' you to do this. MMO's do not work like that, it allows 'you' to make that choice in your play style.

If you want a more social game, then you have to be social. Making friends and grouping up with people to do content is to your benefit. You clear content quicker, no xp penalty either and you have a laugh. Not playing something because it's not social enough is not an acceptable complaint when you yourself are not being social.
