a kiting annoyance

in Final Fantasy XIV
As an archer (and bard in vg/eq1) I do a lot of circle kiting.  In ff14 we can fire our bow without facing our body at the target.  But sometimes when I fire it turns me around and I end up running into the mob and taking a hit (or 2 or 3 depending on how many mobs are following me).  Im wondering if that is intended or a bug, and what I can do to keep from doing it.

    I recall having a similar problem with I was leveling up my archer for BLM. If I recall correctly it was because I used a skill that had sort of a low range. Can't remember details though, sorry.

    I believe there is an option to change that under character configuration. sorry i'm not in game currently to see exactly what it is.

    Character Configuration - Target tab - "Automatically face target when using action"

    Untick and you're good!
