There are so many videos available on youtube for this game. If you like what you are seeing, buy it. This should have nothing to do with ESO or EQNext. ESO is at least 6 months from release and EQnext god knows when. Even if you got 6 months, if you enjoy it, the price is more than worth the admission.

    There Is Always Hope!

Depends on what you like, you would need to list some goods and bads in mmos for you.

Personally there are things about FFXIV that drive me nuts, like the slow combat, 30sec loading screens, (as the EU servers are in Canada) semi voiced cut scenes etc. But the stuff I love includes the armory system where one character can be every class, the far less linear progression, the crafting being much more important, the great music and look of the open world, the story, and the general feel of quality, and that this is a labour of love for Yoshi's team.

It still needs work though, there are some missing features, but there are some great things coming in later updates.

ESO may turn out to be better for exploration and pvp, but looks ugly and dated to me. EQN will be f2p so get it anyway, if your into sandbox stuff you'd be crazy not to.

It's a rather cheap game and you will get a month in that fee..

The servers are packed to the very max, there is people ALL over, thats why they had and still has (less thou) problems with logins..If you buy it now I guarantee that you will NOT be alone for atleast a few months still :)

No clue if it's above 1 mil thou, not sure why it would matter either thou.since there is no shared servers like ESO is planning or TSW has.

ESO has an expected release date  q4 2013 if that holds

EQ Next has beta signups at 2014

You will be able to play this game long before any of them releases :)

I would say get it, theres like a record breaking number of concurrent players on at launch.

Depending on your disposable income worth a play for a month. On balance though I'd say no it's just 'O.K.' imho. Personally the combat is too 'mushy' for me and the travel (which there is quite a bit of) I found pretty irritating. SWOTOR had crisper combat (imho).

The multi class system I like (though it becomes a bit grindy after your main class), the dungeons are fun for a few runs. Most things you can find better implemented elsewhere (imho). There are clearly many that would disagree with me. I suspect when they are working on 2nd and 3rd classes they may well come to agree. I dunno trying to like it better than I do, gotta get your free subs worth!

If you can find it - buy it. Best MMO to come out in YEARS.

Currently playing SWTOR and it's MUCH better than it was at launch.

lie damn lies and statistics! I believe that figure is in Japan. Of course that may change when they re-instate direct sales.

I personally would highly recommend this game, the most fun i've had since Vanilla WoW. It really feels like a world to me. One tip I have if you purchase though is read ALL OF THE QUEST TEXT! There are many many good stories and the writing is top notch :)

    Cheers
