OMFG why did it take so friken long for these devs to listen to their subscribers?!!
this was in EVERY SINGLE wish list thread right from the start. Space on rails was the most horrible feature SWTOR ever had. Hopefully this is NOT on rails. If they actually do a decent job i might even go back and check it out.
If they were listening to their subscribers during the beta, they would not have ignored half - most of the problems that they brought up and EAWare ignored. They are screwing their subscribers for their F2P people. This is just me, but I just wish they would shut down SWTOR and end its life. It's become a money grab for EA.
I'd say I wish SOE would bring back SWG...but I know the flack I'll get for that one.
Either the current employees of Bioware/EA are going through old suggestions, seeing where they miserably failed, or they are being inspired by the latest millions pledged to Star Citizen, either way on day 1, while I was beta testing SWTOR the #1 suggestion I gave them was to have controllable sandbox style space-ship combat, my #2 suggestion was to have sandbox bounty hunting, guess what game promised to do both on day 1? Star Citizen. Sorry EA/Bioware the memory of the game is already in the mind of everyone who deleted it, I re-installed it when it went f2p but noticed it still wasn't fun, the funnest time was when it was beta but that's how it always goes, before you get tired of the content, the game might as well have been called "World of... Uhm Star... War... Wars... the old Craft.. Republic", because it feels, as in game play feel, feels like a Star Wars skinned voice acted version of WoW, nothing new, nothing cutting edge, not an ounce of sandbox freedom and walking walking riding a speeder everywhere, 2 rare items promised in this package? *Checks Auction House and sees the 2 rare items are the most common item in the game*.
Tonight during the PAX Community Cantina event, the SWTOR team teased the super secret space project long in the making. We'll let you watch the video for yourself below, but it looks like PVP space combat is coming to SWTOR and soon.
You do eventually plan on having PvP in your PvP video, right?
I am huge Star Wars fan, after playing the 8 story sroty lines in TOR, which to me was the only good thing about the game for my personal taste, this is looks like a joke, nothing they could do would bring me back to the steaming pile of bantha poodoo, that Tor has become, look pvp you can buy all you need in the cartel store, worst free to play model in a Galaxy far far away, I can't believe, they can find enough suckers to play that pile.. /facepalm
mmm im glad you like the game, i have also played it for a time to max level and max-pvp,pve( to an extent) gear, but GW2,Rift,Neverwinter are all far better than both wow or Swtor. even ffxiv is better imo.
Originally posted by Sleepyfish Thats nice, now all they have to do is make the actual game feel like Star Wars and not the RAID boss whack a mole nonsense it is now. There is just so much about the game in its current state that is not very Star Wars ish that if someone is not currently developing another Star Wars mmo for 2017 or so, they should be.
It's people like you who convinced SOE to destroy star wars galaxies. You just need to get over the fact that no MMO will ever 'feel' like star wars, and they shouldn't even attempt it. Those 'ur da hero' illusions are best left to single player games.
Exactly.
Once you start changing the gameplay drastically your left with something completely different, and those players that stuck around will soon be left disappointed, as has been proved in the past.
By all means add to the game, but please don't start trying to change it into some other MMO, that certainy does mean the end for SWTOR.
Tell that to their investors who saw a 200 million dollar production budget come no where close to paying off in sales.
Originally posted by neosky5k SWG had the best space combat. That's all I want back, this space flight is horrid. XD.
I know SWG was the best. The ship customizations were "out of this world" Most players couldn't even make a decent ship.
Miss that game alot
Played:SWG(pre NGE/CU sucked)Yep its true, anyone who quit SWG because of the NGE/CU missed out on a much better combat system. DCUO, Fallen Earth, STO, The Secret World. Battlefield series. Planetside 2. Still playing SWG.

I played a shipwright and built ships and parts for pvp. I miss the fun and challenge of doing custom orders and trying to cram high end parts into mass restricted chassis.
The whole reverse engineering process was the best thing.
Would be nice to get genuine 3D space combat, rather than the boring video game shooter swtor currently has. Sadly, I'm not holding my breath for any such thing. The video did nothing but show another background screen for the existing shooter.

To put it mildly, swtor devs are amateur mmo developers.
Mmos are about a lot of synergy between pve and pvp content. Thats not the case with a single player game.
for example you say space combat is a waste but its more depth to the game to capture the sw feel. For example the niche part will always be sw class story. Yet, if they integrated space combat with free flight into class stories or just regular side questing then they allowed a whole new aspect of playing their game in a sw galaxy. That is synergy.
Or a game of pazaak as part of a smuggler quest, or regular side quest for any one, while also allowing everyone to pvp pazaak.
a recent example is the macro binoculars as a mechanic for questing. Yet it is only for pve and not pvp. They are bad at synergizing.
or synergizing mounts for pve and pvp.
also the general aspects of swtor in terms of pvp and exploration are not well implemented. Unfortunately their lack of mmo vision and experience created a game that was not at its basic form a great mmo. it should have been much better with the budget that they had.

Actually, no. A real space combat with PvP will bring an insane amount of people back to the game.
After what was pulled off with the free to play fiasco. I'm sure an insane amount of people are put off from coming back.

DEFINITION OF REALITY: Graphics ok, Sound ok, Gold drops need more work...
Getting more interested at this.
Thank god Space Combat isn't open-world nonsense that doesn't fit the game.
No, even if you are a hardcore 'sandbox' lover, EVE-Online in SWTOR is an absolutely awful idea.
