How does FLASH actually work?

Does it simply increase your enmity towards all enemies in range? Is that really it?

I remember reading a guy in a forum saying that if you have the highest enmity already, Flash won't do anything, because it only shifts the enmity priority. Does this make sense? Is this how it works?

Is Provoke more powerful than Flash, since it only affects one enemy, or is there simply as an option for when you don't want to attract otther enemies?

Is there a way to see the amount of enmity you have, or should you just pay attention to whom the enemies are targetting in your party?

Thanks in advance for your attention.

And in case you have your doubts about Flash, too, please feel free to use this thread to ask about them.

Flash will continue to increase enmity even if you are top on the agro list. The only thing it does not stack is blind. As for which is more powerful we will not be able to calculate this because we don't know the numbers. Basically use flash over and over and over, the only time you should not use it is if A) you are low on mana, so you can use attacks to regen mana, or B) there is one monster, then you can use your attacks that generate enmity to hold agro.

The maths.  Flash and enmity are towards the bottom.

Provoke is what doesn't build your enmity if you allready have the target on you.

It simply gives you +1 over whoever has highest enmity on the target, simply clarified.

^ Oh. So that must be what I'd read. Sorry for the confusion and thank you for the extra clarification.
